Townsend House Medical Centre We are an NHS practice offering services to patients within an eight-mile radius surrounding Seaton.

We have two surgeries, Townsend House Medical Centre in Seaton, and Walrond Medical Centre in Beer. This includes Beer, Colyton, Colyford, Musbury, Shute, Axmouth and Branscombe. Our practice has six GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Paramedic, three Practice Nurses and three HCAs. Once a week we also have a Physio Therapist, Pharmacy Technician, Midwife and Mental Health Team in the practice. We have approximately 6000 patients who we also offer other services too if required. These services are Minor Operations, Microsuction, Audiology and a Stop Smoking Programme. We also take part in various studies and research projects which sometimes involves voluntary patient participation. Townsend House is also a teaching practice working closely with the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and the University of Exeter, having frequent students join our team on placement.

Oral Health Improvement Training (Virtual) :

Supporting adults and children with additional needs

Wednesday 12th November 2025 at 2:00pm – 4:00pm

The NHS Oral Health Improvement Team would like to invite you to attend a virtual Oral Health Improvement Training session on Teams.

This session is hosted by our Oral Health Improvement team and they have been commissioned by Devon County Council and the NHS to provide FREE training aimed at anyone who works with, or supports people with additional needs within Devon (excluding Plymouth and Torbay).

Here is some information about what will be included (but not limited to) in the session:

v The consequences of poor oral health

v Diet and its impact on the teeth and gums

v Causes, symptoms and how to prevent tooth decay

v Techniques and support for helping people of all abilities to maintain good oral hygiene.

‼️Townsend House Medical Centre will be closed from 1pm on Wednesday the 1st of October for essential staff training. ‼️

The Surgery will re-open the morning of the 2nd of October from 8am.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, please hang up and dial 999. Please contact your local pharmacy or 111 for urgent medical advice that is NOT life -threatening.

The power cut out at Townsend and our Beer Surgery. Power is now back on. However, internet and phone lines are taking a while to come back on.

📢 Important Notice – Temporary Service Disruption on Thursday 14th August

We have been informed by the National Grid that essential works to the local electricity supply will take place on Thursday 14th August.

During this period, our main surgery in Seaton will be CLOSED. We will be using our branch surgery in Beer to maintain urgent services where possible, but:

• Only a small number of clinical rooms will be available.
• Some equipment cannot be relocated.
• Routine and non-urgent appointments may need to be rescheduled.

We apologise for any inconvenience and will do our best to minimise disruption.

If you have an appointment booked for this date, our team will contact you if it needs to be rearranged.

You will still be able to post prescriptions through our red door at Townsend. However, please do not post any samples through here.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while these essential works are carried out.
