We are a group of people, mostly involved with qigong (chi kung) and taiji (t'ai chi), who are studying and practising the approach to mind and body taught by Peter Ralston and his Cheng Hsin organisation. We are lucky to host Peter's highest-ranked European teacher, Kevin McGee, a couple of weekends a year; the rest of the time we meet informally, often in Sedbergh, to practise. We don't study Ch
eng Hsin to the exclusion of other practice but we do try and integrate its insights with that other practice. For a taste of what is involved you could look at http://www.chenghsin.com/ (Peter Ralston's web site) or https://peterralstonblog.wordpress.com/blog/ (Peter's blog) but really there's no substitute for doing some of it. Martial artists will notice there aren't really forms/katas to learn, we are interested in basic principles; meditators will notice we are trying to pay attention in movement and interaction as well as in stillness. Dancers will notice we aren't always co-operating, but we always work in respect and safety. It can be discombobulating and so it is done in an atmosphere of care, kindness ... and laughter.
