Meet Ryn 🐾 who has suspected bilateral patella luxation
Ryn is can be a little guarded meeting new people but during our session we take things slowly and build up a level of trust. She allowed for a full assessment and treatment without a fuss.
Patella luxation occurs when a dog’s kneecap (patella) moves out of its normal groove, often causing skipping, limping, or a sudden “hop” on a back leg. It’s commonly seen in small breeds but can affect dogs of any size.
Severity ranges from mild (occasional slipping with little discomfort) to severe (persistent lameness requiring surgery). Early assessment is important because untreated cases can lead to arthritis and long-term joint damage.
