We provide high quality community health services to the people of Selby and the surrounding area. Based at Beech Tree Surgery, a purpose built health centre on the outskirts of Selby, we also operate two branch GP surgeries in Carlton and Riccall.

🌟 Meet the Team Tuesday 🌟

Today we’re pleased to introduce Dr J James, one of our GPs here at Beech Tree Surgery 🌳

Dr James moved to the UK in 2004. She went on to study Medicine at Hull York Medical School, graduating in 2013, and completed her GP training in Hull. After working as a GP in Gloucestershire, she relocated back up north to be closer to family. Following a period of maternity leave, Dr James joined the Beech Tree team in February 2025, and we’re delighted to have her with us.

Dr James enjoys all aspects of general practice, particularly the privilege of supporting patients through different stages of their lives. She has a special interest in women’s health and gynaecology, having completed her DRCOG, the Management of Menopause Certificate, and training in contraceptive coil fittings. She also runs baby check clinics 👶

Outside of work, Dr James loves spending time with her nearly two-year-old, baking, walking, playing board games with friends, watching South Indian movies, and learning about new languages and cultures. She speaks English, Tamil and Malayalam fluently, and is currently learning Mandarin 🌍

MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.

🌟 Meet the Team Tuesday 🌟

Today we’re introducing Michele Martin, one of our wonderful Practice Nurses here at Beech Tree 🌳

Michele’s role focuses on the management of Diabetes, as well as supporting patients with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and kidney disease. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the practice and is passionate about helping patients manage their long-term conditions.

Michele began her nursing training back in April 1980 in Doncaster and is a Registered General Nurse as well as a Nurse Independent / Supplementary Prescriber. She has specialised in Diabetes care since 1994, including time spent as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and teaching insulin initiation to other healthcare professionals.

Michele has been part of the Beech Tree team for around 13 years, and we’re very lucky to have her expertise and dedication.

Outside of work, Michele enjoys knitting and spends her time training and judging working dogs 🐕🧶

👋 Meet the Team Tuesday - Dr Boyer - GP

“I completed a degree in Anatomy and Human Biology at the University of Liverpool before studying postgraduate Medicine at the University of Warwick, graduating in 2012. I went on to complete an Academic Foundation Programme in Vascular Surgery in Leeds and later trained as a Vascular Surgeon before retraining as a GP on the Heart of Yorkshire GP Training Scheme.
I joined Beech Tree in August 2024, with clinical interests in Vascular and General Surgery.
I have a real passion for teaching and have developed teaching material at local and regional level. I am a GP trainer, actively support my GP training scheme and also work as an examiner for Leeds Medical School.
Outside the surgery, you’ll find me planning my next adventure, spending time with family and friends or lacing up my running trainers, usually in between grabbing a coffee and a slice of cake.” ☕🍰
