Richard is at the Scottish Parliament today and tomorrow helping Optometry Scotland promote the need for a community low vision service. Currently patients with low vision are on long waiting lists for hospital appointments to get magnifiers and aids that could dramatically improve their quality of life. If opticians could provide this service in the community it would dramatically reduce their wait time and free up the hospital to see other patients.

Christmas tree competition.

We decided to think out of the box this year.

Our Christmas tree is the one in the forest that is saved from being chopped down.

The wildlife have all come together to sit by the tree and watch Santa fly through the sky to deliver the presents.

Retirement!

Douglas Richmond whom many of you are familiar with seeing over the last 'hunner' years in, is retiring.

Although he has not been dispensing at Selkirk since COVID we thought some of our Selkirk patients would like to see him to wish him well!

We will be having a visit from Douglas this Thursday 27th November if anyone would like to pop in for a chat from 2 pm.

Did you know that the equivalent of over 1000 plastic bottles have been removed from the ocean through our partnership with Coopervision contact lenses and Plastic Bank? Everytime you buy daily contact lenes made by coopervision (which are most of the contact lenses we supply) a donation is made to Plastic Bank. Plastic Bank are a social enterprise where plastic is collected by those in developing costal communities and those collectors receive a premium for the material they collect.
