On 21 September 2025, Sheppey came together for a powerful day of unity as the Baton of Hope relay reached our islands shores. The event shone a light on su***de prevention and the strength of our community to support one another through struggle and loss🙏🏼

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day such a success and sparking a conversation that has been stigmatised for generations!💬

Alongside our community partners, we are committed to ensuring that every young person has the support they need, exactly when they need it💙

On Saturday, our Founder and CEO Jordan Billy Dighton had the privilege of attending the My Life My Say Conference 2025 at the iconic Ministry of Sound in London and what an unforgettable day it was!

This year’s conference was the biggest yet, bringing together thousands of young people from across the UK to connect and tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time. From climate change and the cost of living, to technology, social media and youth voice in democracy 🌍

The energy was electric with powerful keynote speeches from Green Party Leader Zak Polanski, Former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Heseltine, DJ AG and the UK’s youngest MP Sam Carling 🎤

Dynamic panel discussions opened up honest conversations about the future by exploring sustainability, equality, the rule of law and what it really means to lead change in today’s world ⚖️

The Democracy Cafés gave young people a platform to share their views and shape the conversation on the issues that matter most to them 🗳️

A huge thank you to Dan, Melisha and the entire My Life My Say team for curating such an inspiring and empowering event 💫

Special shoutout to Jermain Jackman for hosting the day with such passion and energy and not forgetting every young person who showed up, spoke up and stood up for a better future 💙

We’ve left feeling inspired to continue to keep driving change in our community. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Next Gen Conference 2026!

It’s a reminder that everyone is fighting their own battles: anxiety, stress, grief, low mood, burnout, or things they might not even have words for yet.

You never know what someone might be facing beneath the surface

🌟 Hope Box Making Workshops 🌟

Over the past 2 weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of running a couple of Hope Box making workshops with Oasis Hub Isle of Sheppey . 💙

A Hope Box is a personal toolkit filled with items, words, and reminders that bring comfort, calm, and positivity. For young people, they can be a powerful way to:
✨ Build resilience and coping strategies
✨ Boost emotional wellbeing
✨ Reduce stress and anxiety
✨ Develop self-awareness and reflection skills
✨ Encourage creativity and self-expression

It’s been amazing to see young people come together, share ideas, and create their own boxes of positivity to turn to when life feels overwhelming.

Thank you to OASIS for having us come along and work with your amazing young people 🙌

💙 Baton of Hope Tour 2025 - Kent & Medway Sheppey 2025 💙

What an incredible day! Thank you to everyone who came together to make Sunday possible. We’re proud to have played our small part in bringing this powerful conversation to Sheppey and shining a light on the importance of youth mental health and su***de awareness!

A huge thank you to Kent Community Foundation for your generous support. Our work at NexYouth simply wouldn’t be possible without the backing of funders like KCF. We are deeply grateful for all that you do🙏🏼

This is just the beginning. Let’s keep talking, challenge stigma and change the language around mental health so future generations never feel alone💙

The Medway & Swale Health and Care Partnership and Swale Borough Council, working in collaboration with other local partners, are bringing the Baton of Hope to the Isle of Sheppey.

Open to people of all ages, the event will take place on the Island on Sunday 21st September 2025, as a warm-up to the main tour of Kent and Medway the following week 22nd September.

Baton of Hope is the UK’s largest ever su***de prevention initiative. It’s about opening up a national conversation about su***de to help eradicate stigma. An annual tour with the Baton of Hope takes place to create unity within the su***de prevention community. The events aim to help raise awareness of su***de prevention support; call out su***de stigma; and celebrate absent loved ones as well as those who have been able to find hope and stay with us.

There will be baton relay walk commencing at 1pm from EKC Sheppey Secondary School in Sheerness, carried by a variety of partners along the seafront to the Shingle Bank, before returning back to the school for the Charity Village at approx. 2:30pm which will be officially opened by co-founder Mike McCarthy.
