🌟 Mental Health Monday: Bipolar Disorder 🌟

This week, we’re talking about Bipolar Disorder—a condition that causes intense mood changes, from emotional highs (mania) to lows (depression).

💭 3 Tips to Manage Bipolar Symptoms:
✅ Keep a Routine – Regular sleep, meals, and activities help stabilise mood.
✅ Track Your Mood – Using an app or journal helps you spot patterns and triggers.
✅ Reach Out Early – If you feel a mood shift starting, talk to someone you trust.

🚫 Myth Buster: “Bipolar is just mood swings.”

❌ False! Bipolar episodes are intense, long-lasting, and affect energy, sleep, behaviour, and decision-making—not just quick changes in mood.

You’re never alone in this. 💙 See you next Monday for another Mental Health Monday!

🌟 Mental Health Monday: Autism 🌟

This week, we’re focusing on Autism—a neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, social interaction, and how someone experiences the world around them. Autism isn’t an illness to “fix”—it’s a different way of thinking, learning, and feeling.

💭 3 Tips to Support Your Wellbeing if You’re Autistic:
✅ Use Sensory Breaks – If things feel too loud, bright, or overwhelming, take a moment in a quiet space or use tools like headphones or fidgets to help regulate your senses.
✅ Stick to Routines – Having structure can reduce stress and make daily life feel more predictable and manageable.
✅ Communicate Your Needs – Whether it’s asking for clearer instructions, more time, or a break—advocating for yourself helps others support you better.

🚫 Myth Buster: “Autistic people don’t feel empathy.”

❌ False! Many autistic people feel deep empathy—they may just express it differently or feel overwhelmed by emotions.

Different doesn’t mean less. 💙 See you next Monday for another Mental Health Monday!

What an incredibly inspiring day at the Kent & Medway Su***de and Self-Harm Prevention Conference 2025!

It was a great chance to learn from so many passionate professionals, hear new ideas, and connect with people who are all working towards the same goal — supporting our communities and keeping hope alive.

We also heard from the Baton Bearers from the Baton of Hope Tour, who shared powerful and honest stories about their journeys. They spoke about what hope has meant to them — how it helped them through tough times, pushed them forward, and now motivates them to support others. Their words were a strong reminder of why hope matters and why this work is so important.

We left feeling motivated, uplifted, and grateful to be part of a community that truly cares.
Hope grows when we share it — and yesterday made that clearer than ever.

🌟 Mental Health Monday: Self-Harm 🌟

This week, we’re talking about Self-Harm—when someone intentionally hurts themselves as a way to cope with emotional pain.

💭 3 Healthier Ways to Cope:
✅ Use Distraction Techniques – Try squeezing an ice cube, drawing on your skin with a marker, or ripping paper to release tension in a safer way.
✅ Express Your Feelings – Writing, music, or art can help process emotions without harm.
✅ Reach Out for Support – You don’t have to go through this alone. Talk to someone you trust—a friend, family member, teacher, or support service.

🚫 Myth Buster: “People who self-harm just want attention.”

❌ False! Most people who self-harm do it as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions—not for attention. It’s a serious issue that deserves compassion and support.

You deserve kindness, including from yourself. 💙 If you're struggling, please reach out. See you next Monday.
