In most cases, the smartest approach is not stopping...

It’s adjusting (this has always been the case with us, we want you out of here as quick as possible!)

What often makes things worse is doing nothing until the pain forces you to stop completely.

This is exactly the type of decision-making we coach in our small group rehab sessions or online coaching, helping people stay active while fixing the root cause.

Smart adjustment beats forced rest every time.

Following our initial assessments we do all the planning and adjusting for you. That means no more googling and guessing. Just a plan ready for you to open and follow.

If you’d like help your rehab and strength training planned for you, drop me a message and let's have a chat to see how we can help you get back in action :)

Meet Emily 💫

She’s a sport & exercise therapist with a passion about injury prevention, overuse injuries, and staying curious through ongoing research.

She’s especially interested in helping people stay active long term whether that is from relieving sports massages to exercises and stretches to make them more mobile.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll find her buried in a good book, hiking with her adopted dog Bailey, or enjoying her favourite anime worlds 📚🐶🌄

Here’s to the perfect mix of science, movement, and a little bit of nerdy magic ✨💛

Want to know how Emily can help you reduce your aches and pains? Drop us a message and let's chat!

Earlier this week I spoke about why pain doesn’t automatically mean damage, especially when you’ve recently increased your training.

Here’s the approach we use with clients every day.

1️⃣ Don’t panic and shut everything down
2️⃣ Don’t ignore it either

A well-structured rehab plan allows you to keep training while fixing the root cause.

This is exactly what we guide people through in our injury workshops and small group rehab sessions (more on this later in the month), understanding what to modify, what to continue, and how to rebuild properly.

You don’t need to step away from sport and exercise, you just need a better strategy.

If you’d like help applying this to your own training drop me a message and let's have a chat to see how we can help you get back in action :)

Have an awesome week!

If you’ve picked up a ni**le since getting back into training this January, you’re not alone.

After a quieter few weeks over Christmas, your tissues are slightly deconditioned. When training ramps up quickly, they can become sensitive before they become stronger. Pain is often a sign of overload, not damage.

This is where many people are given the wrong advice.

They’re told to stop exercising altogether. Rest completely. Avoid movement.

In most cases, the solution isn’t to stop moving, it’s to move more intelligently.

That means understanding what’s driving the pain and adjusting load, strength and movement in a structured way. If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken, you just need a smarter plan.

Feeling pain and not sure what to do next?

Drop me a message and let's have a chat to see how we can help you get back in action :)

Have an awesome week!

Struggling to recover from upper body injuries?

You’re not alone!

We know how motivated you are at the start of your injury recovery journey is…but after a while this slows down…

Or stops.

This might be because your exercise prescription or treatment is not right for what you actually need!

That’s why we have created our small group strength and rehabilitation sessions at Made to Move make recovery easier, more accessible and affordable…

And you stay accountable, to us!

Every session is led by a sports therapist or movement specialist who guides you with personalised exercises and ongoing support (making adjustments or providing feedback so you progress each week).

You’ll begin with a full injury or movement assessment and follow a 12-week plan designed for your goals.

With up to five people per class, you’ll still get plenty of individual feedback while training in a friendly, motivating setting.

When?
Wednesday at 6:30pm with advance.injuryrehab
Fridays at 9:30am with roryfinch

If you’re fed up of not seeing results or feel lost on how to integrate your rehab back to full performance, message us and let’s have a chat to get the support you need to keep progressing with your rehab.

We know how important it is to you that you keep training/moving/socialising to keep your mind in check 🙏🏼

Our number 1 aim is to keep you doing what you love doing…at best it’s reducing the intensity/frequency/volume 📈

At worse you cut back on triggers whilst your body heals 💫

Unless it’s necessary we know there are more negative affects either physically, mentally or performance wise

After a thorough assessment (with lots of listening) followed up with - physical examination, what was first thought was a herniated disk (and to stop all training for weeks) was just a muscle strain with referral pain in her glute.

We did some treatment, set her up with a progressive return plan to keep Leila training (also consulted with her coach) and a she’s back with confidence and being active 🙏🏼💫
