I must sound like a broken record at times…

BUT an injury or pain is much more than just a simple exercise.

Any Tom, Dick & Harry (no offence if they’re your names šŸ˜…) can prescribe an exercise.

But what we do differently here at for both our Online & In-Person clients is help to develop mental resilience as well as a clear understanding of how the body moves & performs.

We ensure that our clients/athletes fully know the WHY, INTENT & PURPOSE behind not only the exercises but the plan moving forwards.

For those of you have been fortunate enough to not suffer with a debilitating injury or chronic pain - you may be sitting there & scratching your heads that people may be exaggerating.

But to some individuals injuries or pain can cause real loss.

A loss of identity, a loss of acceptance, a loss of enjoyment, a loss of purpose.

And when other approaches fail - you can end up losing hope.

Therefore, people are bound to be sceptical of physiotherapy - let alone completing it online.

But when you open your mind & place all your efforts & trust into someone - you can achieve great things.

CLIENT WINS šŸš€

ā€œSaved my lifeā€ - one of the key takeaway messages from our journey together…

Yes, you may think that is quite an exaggeration…

But to some people, an injury can be so debilitating, especially a chronic tendinopathy.

And when previous approaches fail, you end up losing all hope.

This superstar patient is now 1 year on since the incident that was the straw that broke the camels back..

And after 8 months of failed rehab elsewhere - which consisted of feet massages for tendon rehab šŸ™ƒ

She is now performing movements in the gym that she never thought was possible….

From pain on stairs to lifting heavy ass weights again in the gym šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø

How did we get there???

She trusted the process and despite a few setbacks, remained the highest calibre of clients you could wish for.

As physios, we simply lay down the foundations for opportunity of growth…

It’s down to the patient to do the exercises & be open to be educated.

It’s been a while since I posted any client testimonials / feedback / wins to the grid….

A part of me wanted to make sure I was just providing as much value (almost daily) as possible to the feed / grid…

However, the last few weeks I’ve reflected upon this decision…

And realised that it’s doing a slight disservice to the incredible hard work that both my Online & In-Person clients put in the background of everything.

They’re the reason why I remain so inspired & determined with my own training.

The fuel for my discipline & motivation to strive & grow 1% better everyday!

We’re changing lives out here & I think that deserves a shoutout!

Even if the comments inspire others to simply spend 10-20 minutes daily to work on their self, let alone to jump the gun and work with me in whatever capacity that may be.

Some of the individual’s I’m currently working with struggled with tasks / activities of daily living when we first started working together…

Let alone spend x2 days hiking up a mountain šŸ˜…

Time for me to be open up….

I didn’t want to train today.

There’s many days where I’m not 100%…

There’s many days where I feel out of touch with society.

When many my age or younger are happy to be out partying all weekend,

I’d rather be inside with close ones watching strictly come dancing, David Attenborough and my beloved LFC at the weekend

There’s times where I miss many people.

My parents and family live 4 hours away.

My best friend lives 4 hours away.

My other best friend has gone from living 4 hours away to 21hrs šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ

About 90% of our closest couple friends live miles away, in different cities, counties and some in different countries.

I’ve fallen out of love with the sport that I grew up being obsessed about, missing all my childhood friends & teammates.

I’m currently moving around a little bit heavier than my ideal weight.

I had a long period between degrees where I lost all my love with sport, fitness and training.

Last year I had the worst seasonal depression I’ve experienced to date.

This year will probably be worse.

As you can see - not everyday is perfect.

I can devise so many EXCUSES.

You may see on my IG stories someone who’s extremely motivated who wakes up early to train every morning….

Truth is, there’s so many days I’d rather stay in a warm bed.

But that’s the whole point of this post.

I’m not anything special, our favourite athletes aren’t anything special, and I’m sorry to burst your bubble - you aren’t either.

We all have excuses.

We all fall off with motivation.

We all have pain.

Some individuals who I work with are in more pain than others.

This isn’t a pity post looking for sympathy.

It’s a post keeping it real with you.

Success doesn’t care about your excuses.

Your goals don’t care about your excuses.

Progress doesn’t care about your excuses.

All it takes is just one good day.

One good day to start.

And that’s your choice in the end…

One day…

Or

Day 1.

The importance of Protein during Injury Rehab

& why your nutrition is holding you back 😤

When you hear the word RECOVERY,

what do you think of?

- Ice Baths?

- Foam Rolling?

- Stretching?

- Heat Packs?

- Compression Leg Sleeves?

Unfortunately this is what social media has brainwashed you to think what recovery is all about…

What is recovery REALLY ABOUT? āœ…

- Sleep

- Nutrition

- Active Recovery

- Stress Management

- Protein Intake

Just to name a few!

These are the lowest hanging fruits to FOCUS on.

Doesn’t matter if you have a rehab programme of A* exercises,

If you are sleeping 3-4hrs per night…

Eating chocolates and doughnuts all day…

Consuming little to no protein…

You’re always going to feel like CRAP…

And there’s probably no surprise why you’re ā€œalways injuredā€ šŸ¤•

To make it even more clear for you…

Within 5 days of immobilisation (from an injury)…

Muscle wasting & atrophy are commonly observed…

Up to 150g of muscle mass can be lost per day!!!

Due to:

- rapid increase of muscle protein breakdown

- decrease of muscle protein synthesis

- the effectiveness of protein ingestion being impaired

So rather than focus on whether you got your ice bath in today…

Or done your 30mins of foam rolling,

Or made sure you attended your Dry Needling appt this week…

Make sure you are nailing the ABSOLUTE BASICS!

I read a quote yesterday that really stood out to me:

ā€œCheap success will always bring cheap resultsā€

It stood out to me because when it comes to REHAB / PERFORMANCE…

So many rush the process & get lost along the way.

You grow tired of feeling like you aren’t seeing results every session

When I’m reality you are compounding the biggest result there is..

CONSISTENCY!!!

Being consistent with an average plan will always trump being inconsistent with an optimal plan.

So don’t rush the process.

Speed doesn’t always mean better, especially when it comes to returning from injury.

Take each session as they come. You are human after all.

You weren’t designed to be perfect. Not every session will be 100%.
