Respecting a final journey.
In these ever changing times, modern ways often prevail over tradition.
The funeral profession as a whole, remains a sector stead fast in protecting the traditional values of our work and how we present ourselves on the day of a funeral.
With the care and respect for the people who trust us to care for them the upmost priority.
We operate in a very busy city throughout the day and understand that in this day and age, we all have a lot to do and little time to do it.
Roads are busy, drivers and other road users are reluctant to wait and many people now, have lost a reason or need to pause and reflect for others.
Traditionally, when a funeral cortège passes, passers by would stop, bow their heads and even remove their hats in respect of the much loved person we are carrying on that final journey.
This traditional act of kindness and respect for the deceased and bereaved is sadly so very rare nowadays.
A hearse travels at a walking pace with a conductor leading part of the way on foot for a reason - a lasting act of respect to honour the person who has been lost.
If you see us walking slowly down the road, we are respectfully escorting someone from their home where they have spent many happy years with their family. It is from home they begin their final journey, normally with their bereaved family following in the cortège behind the hearse.
It is a simple act of service, but one that holds so much meaning to families.
We politely ask, please, be mindful of that and pause your vehicle, let us pass - keep our cortège together and pay the rightful respect to someone loved and lost.
So many traditions have been lost, with your help, we can continue to uphold ours and not let respect and care for the deceased and the bereaved be one of those left behind.
Thank you 🎩
