The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we are working. The NHS has coped remarkably well with the influx of patients with Covid-19, but this has meant that the capacity to offer other services has been severely restricted. In Sheffield, the private hospitals have been contracted to provide additional capacity for planned NHS work. As a result of this, the ability to offer certain procedures such as vein treatments has become very limited.

In order to offer the level and quality of service that you expect, we have entered into partnership with one of Sheffield’s most respected aesthetic clinics - Caroline Hill Aesthetic Skin Clinic - to provide a high-level of continued service. We are now able to see patients for consultations and treatments in a safe, Covid-secure environment. Your well-being is our highest priority. "Mr Dodd performed Endovenous Laser Ablation and sclerotherapy on my right lower leg during January 2018.

After suffering symptoms of surface discolouration with an aching leg for a number of years, I requested a consultation with Mr Dodd to address these problems.

My initial appointment was on 9 January and the treatment followed 9 days later. The treatment took place as an outpatient and lasted approximately 1 hour. Though local discomfort occurred during the procedure, this was not particularly distressing. The greatest discomfort being the injection of local anaesthetic.

Following the procedure I walked away from the treatment room, walking up a flight of stairs to the hospital exit.
I experienced minimal discomfort, from the treatment site, just mild local soreness. I did however, notice an immediate relief of my previous symptoms.

I urge all who have this treatment to take Mr Dodd’s advice and ensure regular gentle walking. This action eased any soreness that occurred after sitting for too long. In my case this only occurred when I returned to work and sat too long at the computer. I also took the advice not to remove the support stocking for a full week, even when showering.

The follow up visit showed the treatment to be successful.
As a treatment I found that I experienced immediate symptom relief. Any discomfort as an after effect of the procedure is minimal. Bruising disappeared with 2 weeks. There is slight discolouration of the surface veins following the sclerotherapy, which continues to fade.

My expectations as a patient have been exceeded. I have already recommended the procedure to friends. Should any other veins become a problem in the future I will not wait so long before seeking treatment. My only regret is that I did not act sooner to relieve my symptoms."
