Today is International Men’s Day 2025! 🌍💙

We're joining the global conversation for International Men's Day UK and Celebrating Men and Boys. This day is about recognising the positive roles men play in families, workplaces, and communities, while shining a light on the health challenges they face.

November is also Men’s Health Awareness Month, reminding us that men’s physical and mental wellbeing matters.

🫁 November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month – Let’s Talk About It!

Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK and the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Yet, early detection can save lives.

Know the signs and act early:

✔ Persistent cough (3 weeks or more)
✔ Breathlessness or wheezing
✔ Chest pain or shoulder pain that doesn’t go away
✔ Unexplained weight loss or fatigue
✔ Coughing up blood

Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer – not just smokers. Around 10–20% of cases occur in people who have never smoked. Risk factors include air pollution, secondhand smoke, and occupational exposure to chemicals.

Why awareness matters:

• Early diagnosis improves survival rates dramatically – Stage 1 lung cancer has a 55% 5-year survival rate, compared to just 5% at Stage 4.
• The NHS now offers targeted lung health checks for people aged 55+ who smoke or used to smoke.

This month, let’s break the stigma, share knowledge, and encourage loved ones to get checked if symptoms persist. Finding lung cancer early makes treatment easier and saves lives.
