We love being ahead of the curve… 👀✨

Months before Maria Restaurant in Sheffield even opened its doors, we'd already spotted its potential. During the renovation stage, we booked it for a client - and last Wednesday, a full day before the official opening, we hosted 60 guests for what turned out to be a truly special evening 🍝🥂

Maria is the brand new restaurant from Ronnie and Jack, the duo behind the much-loved Bench Sheffield chain. A heartfelt homage to Ronnie's Italian heritage, the restaurant takes its name and its soul from his grandmother, drawing inspiration from Italian trattorias and the warmth of southern European cooking.

A restaurant for every occasion and every guest, Maria is the kind of place that feels like a discovery… intimate, characterful, and genuinely delicious. Our client's guests certainly agreed.

When a client brief lands with an Olympic theme, there’s really only one place to start the search… 👀

We headed to London Stadium in Stratford, the iconic home of the 2012 Olympic Games, on a scouting mission for a client planning a 250-person, two-day conference with an Olympic theme.

Built to host the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Stadium has been transformed into a spectacular events destination. The spaces have been designed to incorporate the history of the Olympics whilst also looking to the future, which for a client with an Olympic-themed conference, felt almost too good to be true✨

The Forge particularly caught my eye, a sophisticated space seating up to 250 for a conference, with floor-to-ceiling views over the City of London.

And the location couldn’t be more practical for a two-day residential event. The Stratford Hotel is just a short walk away and boasts a magnificent triple-height lobby, a rooftop sky terrace, two bars and a restaurant - this was my personal favourite of the hotels in the area!

With St Pancras International just 6 miles away and 58 trains per hour from Stratford station, getting delegates in from across the country is easy too.

We've just been to visit one of London's most extraordinary venues… and it did not disappoint✨

8½ London at Dowgate Hill, home of the historic Skinners' Hall, has just reopened after an extensive renovation project, and the result is truly breathtaking.

The original 'Copped Hall' on this site was first leased way back in 1295. Destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, it was rebuilt and completed in 1672 and has been hosting dinners, gatherings and events ever since. Now Grade I listed with ancient monument status, the building has been lovingly restored to bring it firmly into the 21st century, whilst preserving every ounce of its incredible character.

And here's the bit that really sparked our imagination… 👀

During the renovation, previously unknown rooms were discovered in the basement. Hidden for who knows how long, quietly sitting beneath one of London's most historic streets. How incredible is that?!

The spaces themselves are stunning - versatile, beautifully finished, and surprisingly accessible.

Whether you're planning an intimate board meeting, a theatre-style conference for up to 250 delegates, a prestigious AGM, or even a civil wedding ceremony, 8½ London has a space to suit.

A quick pitstop while venue hunting down South… and what a find! 🏨✨

We stopped off to check out the brand new Hilton Hotel in Woking - a Surrey stay just 20 minutes from London by train and within walking distance of Woking station. Perfectly positioned at Victoria Square Mall right in the heart of the city centre, it’s a brilliant and convenient base for delegates 🚂

The large conference facilities are very impressive and tick all the right boxes for corporate events, conferences and everything in between 🎯 And after a long day of meetings? Head up to the rooftop bar on the 22nd floor for stunning views across the city 🍸

We’re back with Part 2 from our Lille venue hunt 🇫🇷… and it just keeps getting better!

In our last post, we shared details of the three fantastic conference venues we visited. Whilst in Lille we also visited five hotels – all within easy walking distance of the city centre.

But it wasn’t all business… 🧇

We were treated to a truly special lunch at the iconic Méert, one of Lille’s most beloved institutions. The dining room is absolutely gorgeous – think elegant, intimate and quintessentially French. And then came the highlight: heading down to their cellar to learn how to make their legendary traditional waffles. One of those unique experiences that reminds you just how much a destination has to offer beyond the conference room ✨

The evening ended perfectly with a cosy Raclette dinner at Grand Hôtel Bellevue - Grand Place, Lille. 🧀 – the ideal way to wind down after a full day of exploring.

A huge thank you to Paul from Amplified Hotels and Marion and Claire from Wiziu Hotels for showing us the very best of Lille. Your knowledge, warmth and hospitality made this such a memorable trip 💙

We’ve been on the road again.. this time venue hunting in Lille, France 🇫🇷 & exploring large conference venues in this fantastic European city.

Just 1 hour 20 minutes on the Eurostar and you arrive right into the heart of Lille, making it incredibly accessible for international delegates. From the moment you step out of the station, everything is within walking distance – and the city itself is absolutely beautiful.

First stop: Lille Grand Palais
An impressive venue perfect for the largest of large conferences, exhibitions and corporate gatherings. The scale and flexibility of the space immediately gets the ideas flowing for major international events.

We also visited the stunning 5⭐ Hôtel Barrière Lille, complete with its own casino on site. A fantastic option for conferences looking for integrated accommodation, meeting space and evening entertainment all under one roof.

And finally Cité des Echanges – just a 10-minute drive from the city centre. Set within a peaceful park setting, this light, bright and contemporary conference centre offers a refreshing environment for large meetings and corporate events.

Such a pretty, vibrant city and a brilliant option for a European conference destination.

Flashback to last week… when “days off” still involve a little venue spotting 👀✨

While visiting the incredible National Railway Museum in York with my two little daughters, I couldn’t resist popping into Station Hall to take a look at the potential of its large dinner space… because in events, the inspiration (and work!) never really stops 🚂

Station Hall has just undergone an extensive refurbishment, and the transformation is seriously impressive. Set within the museum’s huge former steam locomotive depot, the scale of the space immediately sparks ideas for gala dinners, awards evenings and large-scale corporate events surrounded by true British engineering history.

Back in 1975, the National Railway Museum opened its doors, becoming the very first national museum outside London. The former depot proved to be the perfect home, and it was an immediate success with the public. Today, it remains one of Britain’s busiest museums and is perhaps the most popular railway museum in the world 🌍

There’s something special about hosting events in spaces that already tell a story, and Station Hall certainly has plenty to tell.

A little throwback to sunnier times ☀️🌿

As we start the search for a new location for a clients’ Summer Garden Party this year, we’ve just been sent the photos from last year’s event & we had to share them!😍

📍Hosted at the stunning Loseley Park in Surrey, this historic house and its immaculate gardens provided the perfect backdrop for a truly special summer celebration. With a large marquee positioned in front of the house, guests enjoyed the best of both worlds - grand surroundings, open green space, and a bespoke event build designed for entertaining in style 🥂

From elegant garden views to a beautifully curated event space, it was one of those days that reminds us why outdoor summer events are so magical✨

Now, with those memories fresh in mind, the hunt begins for this year’s Summer Garden Party venue… 🌎🗺️ Watch this space!
