Winter always brings an increase in illness and this year the NHS has already circulated a ‘flu jab SOS’ for flu season, urging all eligible people to get a free flu vaccination.

For employers, this isn’t just a seasonal challenge, it’s a productivity risk, a wellbeing concern, and a test of how resilient our workplaces really are.

In our latest blog, we share that for employers, winter is a critical time to double down on wellbeing strategies. Vicky Walker, our Chief People Officer, highlights the importance of being proactive: “As flu cases rise this winter, it’s crucial that workplaces prioritise employee wellbeing to help both prevent its spread and maintain productivity.”

From flu jab access and flexible working to manager training and clear sickness policies, small steps now can make a big difference later.

If you’re planning your winter wellbeing approach, this blog outlines practical ways to support teams and strengthen culture through the colder months.

Today marked the official launch of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games 2026 in Sheffield. 🧡

As lead sponsors of the Games for over 15 years, we’re proud that Sheffield will host over 3,000 participants across the four-day sporting festival in August 2026, returning to the city for the first time since 2013.

Today's launch event brought together representatives from the transplant community, including transplant recipients, donor families, and transplant athletes, to share their inspiring stories and celebrate the gift of life.

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Andrew Sangar, highlighted the city’s support for the Games. Dr Paul Harden, Chairman of Transplant Active, brought to life the purpose of the Games and our Chair, Steve Purdham, outlined the aspirations and aims of the Sheffield Games and why the British Transplant Games remains a key charitable partnership of Westfield Health for over 15 years!

The launch reminded us of the life-changing impact of organ donation and the importance of having the conversation around our wishes.

Sheffield 2026 aims to build a generation that sees talking about donation as normal.

One city. One message. Thousands of lives changed.

Much more to follow but for now, you can support the Games and help save lives by registering your organ donation decision today here: https://bit.ly/2QmKyPX

See you in Sheffield next year!

As lead sponsors of the British Transplant Games, we know in our hearts how powerful this event is for the transplant community. Anyone who has ever attended knows intuitively that the Games bring joy, connection, and a sense of belonging that’s hard to put into words.

Now we have the evidence to show it.

Today we're sharing our impact report infographic which reveals:
✨ Positive outcomes for everyone involved, including transplant recipient, donors, families, and volunteers.
✨ An eye-opening level of fun, enjoyment, movement and connection supported by first-hand stories from across the transplant community.
✨ Clear potential for even greater influence and reach in future years.

This demonstrates what the community has always known: the British Transplant Games is vital for friendship and fun, activity and awareness, connection and support.

Stay tuned for when we release the full impact report later this week!

Behind every transplant is both loss and hope.

Today, our Non-Executive Director, Mahmud Nawaz, and Sabia Rehman joined Yuri Matischen on the sofa to discuss the importance of having honest conversations around organ donation, especially within ethnic minority communities.

Patients from ethnic minority backgrounds often wait longer for a match due to the lack of compatible donors. However, one decision to donate could save up to 9 lives and impact 50 more.

Saving a life is one of the greatest acts of love, in any faith and any language.

Have the conversation. Pass life on.

Sheffield artist Pete McKee knows exactly what the gift of organ donation means as a liver transplant recipient.

Today at the launch event, he shares a powerful reflection on gratitude and the life his donor made possible.

“If it wasn't for the fact that my donor had that conversation, I wouldn't be here today!”

Don’t leave your family to guess. Have the conversation today.

Today at the British Transplant Games 2026 launch event, we caught up with transplant athlete and Sheffield Hallam student Rian Snell.

Rian has competed at several British Games, including the 2025 World Transplant Games, but today, he talks about something even more important than winning medals, 'having the conversation around donating your organs'.

Talking about your wishes now means families aren’t left guessing later, and that conversation can be the reason someone like Rian gets a second chance at life.

We know it isn’t an easy conversation to have, which is why we’re sharing NHS support on how to have the conversation about organ donation with your loved ones here: https://bit.ly/3nTEjEs

The big pink truck arrived at Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield today at the 2026 British Transplant Games launch event!

We caught up with Martyn, who’s passionate about organ donation after his wife had a double lung transplant in 2014. Sadly, Martyn lost his wife three years ago and now travels the country to spread the message far and wide.

Seth Punchard kindly donated 20 big pink trucks and drivers that go to various events around the country to raise awareness around organ donation. From Nottingham to Oxford and next up Sheffield, you won’t miss them at the 2026 Games!

If you take one thing away from this video, please, let your loved ones know your wishes when it comes to organ donation.

Pass on the gift of life.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFAider®) training is the mental equivalent of physical first aid giving your people the skills, confidence, and awareness to support colleagues experiencing mental distress.

MHFAiders® aren’t trained to be therapists or counsellors, but they are equipped to have supportive, non-judgemental conversations and guide someone towards the right help. And in workplaces where 43% of employees say their mental health has worsened since the pandemic, this support truly matters.

You can now book a single place on an online Mental Health First Aid course from £249 per person (RRP from £329 per person), a saving of £80 until March 31.

Your people will become certified Mental Health First Aiders, helping you build an open, supportive culture and reduce the rising impact of poor mental health at work.

Let’s help your teams feel supported and your organisation thrive: https://bit.ly/3HDSXf1
