Winter skin can be rude 😅—here are simple, evidence-based tips that actually work:

❄️ 1) Switch to a cream cleanser
Foaming/gel cleansers can strip oils faster in cold weather. A gentle, non-drying cleanser keeps your barrier happy.

💧 2) Moisturise on damp skin
Within 60 seconds after washing, apply a thicker moisturiser. This traps water in the skin.
Look for: ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, squalane.

🧴 3) Add a barrier “seal” at night
If you’re very dry, layer a thin occlusive (like petrolatum or a balm) over moisturiser on cheeks/lips. Think “winter jacket for your face.”

🌬️ 4) Don’t skip SPF
UV still damages skin in winter (even when it’s cloudy). Use SPF 30+ daily—especially if you’re using retinoids or brightening treatments.

🔥 5) Turn down hot showers & heaters
Heat + long showers = barrier damage. Keep showers warm (not hot), and use a humidifier if your home is dry.

🍊 6) Keep actives… but be smarter
Over-exfoliating in winter causes flaking, redness, and sensitivity.

Exfoliate 1–2x/week max

Favor lactic acid / PHA over harsh scrubs

If irritated, pause activities and focus on barrier repair.

👄 7) Lip & hand rescue
Hands and lips have fewer oil glands—so they dry out first.
Use a thick balm and reapply often. Night tip: balm + light occlusive.
