Here at Peaks Edge we are proud of the diversity of the community we serve, & of all the different languages that are spoken within our setting.
Children enjoy learning words & phrases in different languages, learning about different countries, religions & festivals.
This month we are focusing on TURKISH.
If you speak Turkish & are able to share any stories, music, newspapers, fabrics, clothing, currency or pictures to further enrich our environment, they would be gratefully received. In addition, if you have any information about your language, or your family’s heritage that you’d like to share, please speak to one of the team; we would love to pass this on within the setting.

Visit your local Family Hub where you can get your Healthy Start vitamins.

Healthy Start vitamins contain vitamins A, C and D for children aged from birth to 4 years, and folic acid and vitamins C and D for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

These are available in all our Family Hubs at the low cost of £1.15 for Adult Vitamins and £2.30 for Children’s drops. Or you might be entitled to them for free with the Healthy Start scheme.

Today in pre-school we have been learning about Lunar New Year.

We made some Chinese lanterns and worked as a team to decorate and build a Dragon.

We also learnt about how people celebrate Lunar New Year. They clean the house, to get rid of all the bad from the year before, decorate their house in red, which is the lucky colour, and wear lovely new clothes. They also exchange red envelopes with money in, and go to parades to watch the Dragon dance.

We also went to crystal peaks to decorate some fire work rockets, another part of the Lunar New Year that people all over the word enjoy.

We've had a fantastic day 😊

It is children's mental health awareness week✨in support of this one of our goals is to familiarise our babies with their new key workers \ staff so that they feel safe and create great relationships with their carers. This morning the babies have enjoyed exploring the new photo book which pictures all of the staff in the room so that they can familiarise themselves with our faces ! 🌈🌈EDIBLE PAINTING🌈🌈
A lot of our babies next steps , is to begin to develop friendships and to manage transitions from parent to key worker ! We have engaged in an activity that we knew all of our key children would enjoy and bond over ! We all absolutely loved this activity and we loved discovering the different colours ( and tastes😆) with our friends ! Babies learn a lot in the early years by discovering textures using their mouths ! This is why it was important to us to make an edible activity that is safe for all of our ages of babies to explore 😊❤🌈
