I love this quote by James Clear

“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become”

I talk about this a lot in clinic. It’s the small changes, made consistently over long periods of time that create significant change…..

If you want to be a morning person…..start setting an alarm 15min earlier.

You want to be more active…. use this 15 min to have a short brisk walk.

You want to lose weight….decrease your portion size slightly.

You want to be less sedentary at work….. use your lunch break to have a walk or introduce walking meetings with your colleagues.

You want to be less stressed……. commit to 10 minutes meditation a day which has been shown to decrease anxiety and improve mental health.

Small changes are easier to implement than larger more restrictive changes that we then cannot maintain in the longer term. What changes can you make to move yourself closer to the person you wish to become?

One of my favourite appointment types is the post natal check up. It’s a longer appointment where we spend some time debriefing the birth process, what went well and what was challenging. Holding space to process some of the emotion, support the new born mama and help her to let go of anything that no longer needs to be carried.

We correct anything structurally that needs correcting and talk about any self care measures that need to be implemented and a return to exercise, if appropriate and how that might look like for that individual person.

I always offer my post natal mums a free new baby well being check up as a thank you for putting their trust in me through their pregnancy.

It’s the most beautiful and rewarding appointment for me after supporting a woman through her pregnancy, to meet the new member of the family and also an opportunity to nurture the new mum with love and support in what is a glorious and precious but also exhausting and vulnerable stage of life.

I really love my job ❤️

So this week we’ve had Meadowhead A level student, Lola on work placement, experiencing all aspects of working in and running a clinic. Thank you to all our clients who agreed to allow Lola to observe their appointments and to our fabulous reception team for showing Lola the ropes of all the admin and back of house jobs that go into running a busy and thriving practice.
Hopefully we have showed her what a great profession Chiropractic is, how much it can change people’s lives and how enjoyable it is as a career. Future chiropractor incoming maybe? Watch this space! 👀

I haven’t got the time….

Here’s your little heads up from the universe. Life is busy, we are never going to have the time to do everything we want to pack into every hour of every day.

It’s not about finding the time
It’s about MAKING the time.

What’s important to you? What are your priorities and your health goals? Then you make the time to take the small steps required to move you forwards towards that end goal.

⭐️ You want to remain active, mobile and independent in your older years?
💡 MAKE time for balance exercises and strength training and treating your aches and pains before they reduce your mobility and lead to loss of strength.

⭐️ You want to feel less stressed, overwhelmed or anxious?
💡 MAKE the time to add daily meditation or mindfulness exercises into your daily routine to help retrain your nervous system.

⭐️ You want to become more active and lose weight? 💡 MAKE the time to move your body regularly and plan your meals and cook from scratch over choosing convenient ultra processed foods.

⭐️ You want to get rid of that nagging injury and return to exercise fully and pain free?
💡 MAKE the time to commit to a course of treatment and do the recommended exercises and make the recommended lifestyle changes.

It’s a case of working out what your priorities are. What is actually important to you? Then make the time to make it happen. There is no better investment than in your one, precious, healthy and happy life. This is the only body you’ll ever have, treat it well.

Another day another new class incoming!……

Introducing Gaynor Hague who will be offering Yin Yoga classes on a Thursday lunchtime.

What is Yin Yoga and why do I need it?🧘‍♀️✨

In a world that constantly tells us to go faster, do more, and push harder, Yin Yoga is your permission slip to be still. While most exercise focuses on your muscles, Yin goes deeper—targeting the connective tissues, ligaments, and fascia that often hold onto our deepest tension.

Why Yin is the ultimate “Future-Proofing” tool:

Deep Structural Release: By holding floor-based poses for several minutes, we encourage the fascia to hydrate and release. This isn’t just a stretch; it’s about opening the body from the inside out, improving joint mobility, and easing that “stiff” feeling we often carry into our 40s and 50s.

The Nervous System Reset: Yin is a direct line to your parasympathetic nervous system (the ‘rest and digest’ mode). It lowers cortisol, slows the heart rate, and creates a profound sense of mental clarity. It’s the perfect antidote to burnout and the “always-on” mental load.

A Practice of Presence: Holding stillness teaches us how to breathe through discomfort and stay centered when things feel tight or stressful. It’s a mental training ground for resilience that stays with you long after you leave the mat.

Whether you’re looking to recover from intense training, manage the transitions of menopause, or simply find a quiet corner in a loud world, Yin is where the transformation happens.

Join us for a half price taster session and feel the difference!

Good health is downstream of good self care which is downstream of good self love. Here is your permission to love yourself fully and care for yourself truly by choosing and prioritising what your body needs.

Whether that is hands on treatment to enable your body to function better, making time for movement or exercise, giving yourself permission to rest and relax, fuelling your cells with good nutrition or committing to a routine to ensure better sleep.

‘In these bodies we will live
In these bodies we will die.
And where you invest your love,
you invest your life’

What a lovely evening spent talking about the job I love, what it entails and how I work. Also chatting bone health and how we can best support ourselves to future proof our bodies and remain strong, active and independent. Finished the event with some foot and ankle mobility exercises and balance exercises which are simple and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Thank you all the ladies of .wi for inviting me to talk and for being so welcoming and receptive and interested in the discussion.

Unbelievably grateful for the greatest gift of my life in being a mother. Beyond grateful to all the mothers and mother figures in my life particularly my own mum who was and is the blue print of how to be a mother. Feeling a connection to all my ancestral mothers who came before me and to all the mothers who will come after ❤️❤️❤️

Sending love and warmth to those for whom today is difficult ❤️

My body works better when I’m not eating refined sugar. My energy levels are better, my mood is better, my sleep is better, my hormones are better, my immune system is better. Still, despite knowing this I can fall off the wagon and easily start eating the rubbish again. After a week of sugary treats creeping in. Today is my ground zero. I’ve written my meal plan, done my weekly shop and filled the cupboards with nutritious and nourishing foods. I always make my own sugar free granola, I have a few recipes but this is one by I’ve made a big batch and tomorrow I’ll be starting my day with a bowl full with full fat, live, Greek yogurt and berries. The perfect start to a Sunday 🩷

Happy International Women’s Day!

I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by strong women in my life. I work with them, live with them and I know them. We hold each other up, wipe each other’s tears, celebrate and encourage each other.

I love being a woman. I love how we do life. I love our strength, our passion and how we protect the ones we love and most of all I love how we do friendship.

Forever grateful to be a woman and to have all the incredible women in my life.

HELP PLEASE!!!

Shoutout for my baby mamas!!! I’m creating an ante natal workshop for my pregnant clients to come and eat cake and listen to positive birth stories. I want to interview and film my previous clients with their positive stories of how chiropractic and the preparation that we did together helped create a positive birth experience. If you are happy to be filmed and share your birth experience send me a message or comment below and I will be in touch to arrange.
