As the days get shorter and the air gets colder, many people naturally slow down.
But if you live with anxiety, ADHD, or a sensitive nervous system… winter can feel like even more: more intensity, more overwhelm, more “too much.”
Lately in my private sessions I keep hearing:
❄️ “I feel overstimulated by everything.”
❄️ “I can’t focus.”
❄️ “My anxiety spikes the moment it gets dark.”
❄️ “My body feels like it’s running a marathon, even when I’m still.”
For so many of us, winter isn’t just a season — it’s a full sensory shift. A rhythm change. A nervous-system challenge.
It reminds me of a young man I’ll call Sam (not his real name).
He came to me exhausted, anxious, and frustrated, convinced something was “wrong” with him because everyone else seemed to cope just fine. Meanwhile his body kept sounding alarms: racing heart, spiralling thoughts, overwhelm in crowds, crashing by mid-afternoon.
But as we worked, one thing became clear:
Nothing was “wrong.”
His system was simply overloaded.
Winter darkness, social expectations, noise, pressure to stay productive — it all hit like a tidal wave.
So we rebuilt his sense of safety from the inside out.
Slow grounding. Hand-to-heart holds. Structured pauses. Sensory boundaries. And yes — the same ear self-massage many of you have tried in my classes around Sheffield.
Bit by bit, his anxiety softened.
His focus returned.
He could feel himself again.
He realised he didn’t need to fight his nervous system — he needed to work with it… kindly, gently, in a way that actually fits how his brain and body operate.
✨ And this is exactly what my upcoming workshop is here to support. ✨
🌙 Nervous System Winter Reset: From Overwhelm to Ease
Saturday 6 December • 2:15–3:45 pm
Sheffield — only 3 places left
A gentle, spacious afternoon to help you reset, regulate, and soften into this season instead of bracing against it.
We’ll explore practices to support those who feel deeply, including:
• easing winter anxiety + sensory overwhelm
• grounding tools for ADHD / highly sensitive systems
• restoring energy + supporting sleep
• quick calm-down methods for overstimulation (parents, I see you)
• reconnecting with your natural winter rhythm
• building resilience without pushing or forcing
If winter feels heavy, loud, fast, or simply too much… you’re not alone. And you don’t have to navigate it with a racing mind or tight chest.
Your body deserves a softer way. 💛
