A successful scheme to help brain injury and stroke survivors is being rolled out through Lancashire and South Cumbria, thanks to new funding from a national charity.

The Neuro Rehabilitation OnLine (NROL) programme, which is jointly run by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), has received nearly £180,000 from brain injury recovery charity SameYou to expand the pilot project.

Jones has been revealed as the first British ex-rugby player known to have died with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) - a progressive brain condition caused by repeated blows to the head. He died in March 2021 after battling dementia and the Daily Mail reports that a post-mortem revealed he died with CTE.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with a young woman with severe and complex needs (at her home in Belmont, Durham) in the role of a Support Worker providing daily/weekly care alongside a small team.

Essential: Experienced in a care role, available for bank staff position to cover annual leave and sickness within the current care team. Shifts available will consist of 12 hour day shifts and regular weekend work with occasional nights. You will be required to have flexible availability. Confidence in undertaking routine care procedures with proven care experience working with a young adult in their family home.
Desirable: Previous work within the care sector, recent Manual Handling and Medication Administration training.

We are currently recruiting for Female Healthcare Support Workers for a female with complex needs in the locality of Belmont near Durham. Working as a key member of a team who provide 24-hour care, for a delightful young woman with complex physical needs, you will contribute to creating a suitable, safe and supportive environment for both the client and her family. You will be fastidious in keeping the home environment clean and tidy.
Our client lives at home in a purpose built environment. You will work in a friendly and welcoming family home environment to provide care. Being available to work regularly during weekends and for 12 hour day shifts is essential and flexibility to adapt your working times to fit in with client activities is required. A fun, confident and experienced carer you will support the young woman with therapy needs and facilitate fun engaging and stimulating experiences with her, in addition to undertaking personal care and general care needs as well as monitoring her health. You will demonstrate confidence in using mobile hoists and demonstrate initiative when working with a client who has medical needs.
You will be expected to be an exemplary role model, display meticulous record keeping abilities and have a full understanding of care plans. You will have proven experience of utilising best practise care procedures and empathetic work in the care sector.

Holding a current DBS and current care training certificates is essential. Due to the vulnerability of our client we will need applicants to be Covid vaccinated.
