When it comes to clinical decision-making, definitions truly matter.
As highlighted by Bogduk (2019) and Schmidt et al. (2023), distinguishing between key MSK terminologies is essential:

Radiculopathy: A condition involving loss of function of a nerve root (motor or sensory). When this loss is progressive, surgical referral may be required.

Radicular Symptoms: These are the result of nerve root irritation or overactivity, often presenting as neural symptoms such as tingling, stabbing sensations, pins and needles, or radiating discomfort. Patients in this category often respond well to physical therapy and progressive, graded exposure-based rehabilitation.

For professionals managing MSK patients, clear and shared definitions enhance communication within the MDT and support more accurate clinical decision-making.
