We know that employing a Private Educational Psychology is costly and the average cost for a full assessment is high for a lot of parents.

When considering to involve a Private EP, we recommend exploring all of your ‘free’ options first, such as approaching your child’s school’s SENCo and seeing if they can have an assessment completed by an EP from the local authority. Are there other services you could approach who might be a better fit, such as CAMHS? Ask your GP for advice on this.

We know that local authorities are incredibly stretched at the moment, particularly with the demands of statutory processes such as EHCPs, so it is possible that employing a Private EP may likely be your fastest route to gaining a thorough understanding of your child’s current educational and psychological needs.
