Yesterday was all about fun and friendly competition as we enjoyed a lively game of bingo — lots of excitement, concentration, and of course plenty of smiles all around! 🎲💛

Afterwards, Suzanne proudly put up her beautiful finished red flower display 🌺 She was absolutely delighted with her work, and so were we! Such a lovely burst of colour to brighten the day!

We were delighted to welcome Museum for You into our home for a fascinating visit all about coal mining ⛏️

Our guests were captivated as a former miner shared his personal story of starting work down the pits at just 15 years old. Residents enjoyed exploring historic photographs and handling mining artefacts, guessing what they were once used for - with many correct answers along the way!

One item truly had us all puzzled… a small round brass tin, which turned out to be a miner’s lunchbox - much to everyone’s surprise! 🍱

The highlight of the session was seeing a piece of coal from Kilmersdon Colliery, the very last coal to come out of the mine when it closed in 1973. A powerful and memorable moment for many.

It was a wonderful, nostalgic session that sparked memories, conversation, and curiosity. Thank you to Museum for You for such an interesting and engaging visit 💛

Our window art project is officially underway! 🎨✨

Mary and Brian took charge of getting our beautiful window art display started, bringing plenty of creativity and enthusiasm to the task. Lesley and Derrick also joined in, helping to make a fantastic start on some colourful decorations using tissue paper and plastic. 😍

The pieces are coming together wonderfully and will soon be proudly displayed in one of our windows for everyone to enjoy. We love seeing our residents working together and sharing their creativity to brighten up the home! 🤩

Activities like this bring so much joy to our residents. Watching birds and squirrels up close sparks conversation, lifts spirits, and helps people feel connected to nature and the world around them. For many, it’s a calming, meaningful moment in the day that encourages engagement, reminiscence, and a real sense of wellbeing.

These simple, sensory experiences make such a positive difference - reminding us how important it is to keep nature close to home.
