Shoreham Homoeopathy

Shoreham Homoeopathy Therese Eriksen is an experienced registered homeopath, specialising in trauma.

Consultation with registered homeopath Therese Eriksen RSHom, SDSHom. Suitable for children and adults. Remedy included.
Chronic dis-ease arises when we reach overload (of toxicity/emotional distress/physical stress). Symptoms can appear as mental, emotional and/or physical manifestations of this inward dysregulation.

Homeopathy, this safe and gentle system of medicine, can help to restore equilibrium to our very being, so that we can return to fulfilling our potential in life.

The skilled homeopath will sensitively help the patient explore where the issues lie so that the journey to full health can unfold.

Remedies are prescribed at each consultation based on the totality of symptoms, made from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms, with the substance that most closely resonates with the underlying state using the “law of similars”.

Due to their ultra-high dilutions, homeopathic remedies can be used by people of any age, even new born babies and pregnant or breast-feeding women.

💖Oxytocin: the remedy of connection💖

Valentine’s Day puts the spotlight on love, bonding, and closeness.

In the body, that experience is strongly linked with oxytocin — the hormone released through touch, intimacy, trust, childbirth, and deep emotional connection.

Homoeopathically, Oxytocin speaks to what happens when connection feels unsafe, disrupted, or absent.

This remedy can be considered where there is:

-A longing for closeness alongside fear of it
-Difficulty bonding after birth or trauma
-Emotional numbness or detachment following shock, grief, or relational rupture
-Anxiety around intimacy, touch, or dependence
-A history of disrupted attachment or feeling unsupported at key moments.

Oxytocin is not about romance alone. It is about felt safety, bonding, and the ability to soften into relationship — with partners, children, and oneself.

Valentine’s Day can be tender, joyful, or quietly painful. For some, it highlights connection; for others, what has been lost or never quite formed.

Homoeopathy allows us to work gently at that deeper physiological–emotional interface, where bonding and trust live in the nervous system.

We all need love and connection. In its truest form, this comes from within.

If you would like to explore this further, please get in touch.

🌼Emerging From Winter - Need Some Support?

If you are struggling to shake off winter — recurring colds, stubborn aches, low mood, or energy that hasn’t really returned — you’re not alone.

This is a time of year when we can feel our most depleted.

We may still be running on reserves. Vitality can feel flat, even as the days get lighter.

In homoeopathy, we pay close attention to this.

Lingering or repeating winter ailments aren’t just bad luck; they often point to an underlying susceptibility.

When that susceptibility is supported, the body tends to recover more completely and become less reactive over time.

Rather than propping things up or chasing symptoms, homoeopathic treatment works with your individual pattern — supporting resilience, energy, and the ability to adapt to seasonal change.

If you’re heading into spring already feeling worn down, this can be a very good moment to address it.

Appointments are available if you’d like support in rebuilding rather than pushing through.

🌷 Unfurling Towards Spring 🌷

As winter loosens its grip, there’s often a subtle shift inside us.

More light. A hint of energy returning. The first sense of wanting to unfurl after months of wintering.

For some people, this transition takes time. Fatigue lingers. Emotions feel close to the surface. Old symptoms resurface just as you expect to feel better.

In homoeopathy, this threshold moment matters. Seasonal change can reveal where the system has been compensating, suppressing, or coping rather than truly rebalancing. What emerges now is often meaningful, not inconvenient.

This is a good time to listen rather than push through. To support the body and nervous system as they reorganise, instead of overriding the process with willpower.

If you feel like something in you is ready to shift — physically or emotionally — this can be an ideal moment to begin homoeopathic treatment.

Appointments are open.

If spring feels like a call to reset rather than rush, you’re welcome to book.

In my work, I often see people assume that if digestion is off, the gut must be the root cause.

Sometimes it's not.

Long-term stress
Shock or grief
Surgery or illness
Repeated antibiotics
Emotional strain held for years

These affect the nervous system and the body’s ability to regulate itself.

The gut then becomes the expression of that imbalance — not the original problem.

This is why food, supplements, and fermented foods can help… but don’t always resolve things fully.

The body may need a different kind of stimulus to reorganise itself.

If you’ve done the nourishing work and still feel stuck, it may be time to bring in homoeopathy.

✨Emotional stress, grief, and the body — why it matters in homoeopathy✨

When talking to a homoeopath about your chronic condition, you will find they ask the question "When did it start?". Here's why:

Emotional trauma does not stay “emotional”.
Stress, shock, and grief create measurable physiological changes:

• Persistent activation of the stress response system (HPA axis)
• Altered digestion, immunity, and sleep
• Changes in hormone signalling and inflammation
• Reduced capacity to adapt to further stressors

Over time, the body learns this state. Symptoms may appear long after the original event and often seem unrelated: gut problems, fatigue, recurrent infections, pain, anxiety, hormonal disruption.

This is why a homoeopathic consultation looks beyond diagnosis and time lines. We do not separate the physical, mental and emotional states. They are all relevant, all part of the whole picture of you.

We are interested in how the system responded — not just what happened.

Homoeopathy works with the individual pattern of response - how stress was experienced, how it was coped with, and how it is now being expressed physically.

When that pattern is addressed, the body can move out of survival mode and back into regulation.

Physical symptoms often ease as the nervous system and physiology settle.

Food, lifestyle, and fermented foods can support resilience — but sometimes the system needs deeper recalibration.

If this resonates, a full homoeopathic consultation may be the next step.

🔷 When are fermented foods not enough? 🔷

If you’ve been to one of my fermenting workshops, you already know how important fermented foods are for gut health. They can be genuinely transformative.

But I also see people who do everything right with food and still don’t feel well.

Fermented foods may not be enough when:

- Symptoms keep returning despite a good diet
- Ferments cause bloating, discomfort, or feel “too much”
- There’s a history of antibiotics, long-term medication, stress, illness, grief or trauma
- Gut issues are tied in with fatigue, hormones, immunity, mood, or sleep

Fermented foods introduce beneficial microbes.
They don’t always address why the gut lost balance in the first place.

This is where homoeopathy comes in.
It works at a regulatory level, supporting the body’s ability to respond, adapt, and heal — which can make fermented foods easier to tolerate and more effective long term.

Fermented foods are a physical foundation.
Sometimes we need deeper, individual support to build on that foundation.

Some people find that this is where homoeopathic treatment makes a difference. If you’re curious whether that applies to you, you can get in touch.

If you’ve done the workshops but still feel stuck, this may be the missing piece.

"I just attended a workshop with Therese where she taught us how to make sourdough bread, sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha and creme fraiche!

It was such an inspiring workshop, I really love Therese's approach as she makes it really practical and shares lots of hacks to show how it can be easy and that it doesn't have to be time consuming, so you can fit it in to daily life - even when you have a busy household and career.

I've already started making these things at home and I'm really excited to be incorporating them into my diet. Many thanks for a fun and super useful workshop Therese!"

👋Hello to to some new followers!

Thank you for connecting, I thought it might be helpful to share a bit about what I do and why I do it.

🌿HOMOEOPATHY
This is my main passion - my calling in life!

I love to help people to heal in a way that is truly holistic and takes every part of them into account; mentally, emotionally and physically.

I have a special interest in working with people experiencing effects from trauma, having worked with survivors of domestic abuse for over 13 years.

I consider it a privelege to witness the courage and resilience of people who have lived through dark times still striving to heal and becoming empowered to regain control of their lives and their health.

🌿NUTRITION
Digestion has always been an area that I have needed to focus on in my own, ongoing journey to health.

Over the years I have come to learn the importance of gut health in overall health.

Fermented foods play an important role here and for a decade or so I have enjoyed teaching people how to make these for themselves.

My aim is to take the fear of out of giving it a go. It doesn't need to be difficult or time consuming and can be easily incorporated into your life.

Keep in touch for workshop dates, recipes and health support. Click on the link in my bio or comment here to connect.

Slow-simmered bone broth: simple, nourishing, and gut-friendly. Sip it warm or use as a base for soups and stews.

Benefits include:

✅ Supports and helps to heal the gut lining (gelatin, glycine).
✅ Provides collagen amino acids for joints, skin, and connective tissue.
✅ Supplies minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus) in an absorbable form.
✅ Easy on digestion; hydrating and warming.
✅ Can support immune function and recovery.

Simple Bone Broth Recipe

Ingredients
~ 1–2 kg bones (beef, lamb, or fish; roasted optional)
~ 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
~ 1 onion (halved), 2 carrots, 2 celery sticks (optional)
~ 1–2 bay leaves, peppercorns
~ Water to cover
~ Salt to taste

Method
~ Place bones in a large pot; cover with water. Add vinegar (it helps to draw the goodness from the bones).
~ Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a bare simmer.
~ Simmer: poultry 12–24h; beef/lamb 24–48h; fish 4–8h.
~ Strain, cool and store (fridge up to 5 days; freeze longer).

I use this as a basis for a chunky stew by adding in the veg from my box and some good quality meat, as well as flavouring with plenty of garlic, ginger and herbs.

This is what I live on for most of each winter! It's hearty and nourishing and heals my gut lining nothing else does.

This can be a time of year that weighs heavily on the heart. It can really highlight any grief.

Homoeopathy can support us to feel, process and move through this and allow the light to return.

We all experience and express grief in our own way. As ever, we match the remedy to the individual. Here are my top three:

🌿 Ignatia amara – When the grief is acute, this remedy can help us cope. Heartbreak, maybe with suppressed emotions or just cannot stop crying, sighing, a lump-in-the-throat feeling, mood swings.

🌿 Natrum muriaticum – Long-standing grief, disappointment in love, silent suffering, aversion to consolation, brooding. Difficulty crying, especially in company, but once it comes it seems like it won't end. This gem of a remedy can help us peacefully let go and move on.

🌿 Phosphoric Acid - Here, the grief has taken hold and exhaustion, burnout and lethargy have set in. When all you can do is lie on the sofa and stare at the TV. This remedy can gently remind us of the beauty still around us and help us back into the world.

Don't be alone with it. Reach out for support, walk in the sun and fresh air and remember that this too will pass.
