Back to school this week, what are you feeling? 😃😩😡🤢😱😲
Top Tips for Parents
Active listening:
Listen to your child without dismissing them or immediately trying to problem-solve.
Validate their emotions:
Reassure your child that it's normal to feel many emotions and that you understand.
Establish a routine:
Gradually adjust bedtimes and mealtimes to a school-like schedule before the term begins to ease the transition.
Talk and ask questions:
Ask open questions about the school day to encourage open communication.
Use creative ways to communicate:
For children who find it hard to talk, try using feelings charts, picture books, or acting out scenarios with toys to help them express themselves.
Seek support:
If your child is struggling, tell school, they have experience and can offer support.
Best wishes to all parents and children going back to school this week 🌈 🍀

At least 1 in 10 children are struggling with their emotions and/or their behaviour.....that's at least 3 children in every school classroom.
In these classrooms, children learn about core subjects like English and Maths but rarely core emotions. Learning about emotions is simple to achieve but will help children gain valuable skills they will need for life.
With this in mind, a series of lesson plans have been written to sit alongside a six-book Finding Your Way series for teachers to use in their classrooms - from nursery to year six!
Finding Your Way is a series of fun picture books specifically created for children focusing on the six core emotions of happiness, sadness, fear, anger, disgust and surprise, linked together by a map called Lifeland.
The lesson plans and resources that accompany the books are aimed at developing a whole school approach to delivering the key skills of emotional intelligence and mental health resilience from EYFS through to Key Stage 2 using fun characters and stories.
They have been penned by Nick Russell of Head First Education. Nick is a fully qualified primary school teacher with 14 years of classroom-based teaching under his belt.
The plans also support teaching aims across the national curriculum programme of study for EYFS, KS1, and KS2, underpinned by opportunities to improve reading and literacy skills along the way!
