75 years ago today on the 5th July 1948, the NHS was created, a monumental step in changing healthcare in Britain.

CLCA Nursing has been proud to work incredibly closely with the NHS in providing highly trained medical and care staff to the NHS and also work alongside our health service to provide care packages to their patients.

We are so incredibly proud of the NHS and all their incredibly hardworking and dedicated employees!

We believe in supporting our local community, which is why we're excited to announce that CLCA is sponsoring the Shrewsbury Ladies Hockey Club's first team for their home shirts!

The Ladies 1st team is an incredibly talented group of athletes that competes in Midlands Division 2, playing 20 matches across the midlands running from September to March on Saturdays, 10 of which are played at Meole Brace School in Shrewsbury and 10 across the midlands including Worcester, Birmingham, and Staffordshire. In addition, the team will be entered into a national cup league which takes place within and outside of the West Midlands.

We're thrilled to be a part of their journey and can't wait to see them score goals and win games!

As part of International Women’s Week, we are celebrating amazing women from the CLCA Group.

Meet Ana, a Medical Case Manager at AeroMed by CLCA, pictured here with her lovely dog Pablito!

Growing up in a small fishing village on the west side of Portugal, Ana used to sell fish with her mother at a local market during summer holidays. After graduating in 2006, Ana worked as an ICU nurse for seven years in Portugal before moving to London in 2013 to continue her career. Ana attended an aeromedical training course in 2014 and began working in commercial medical repatriations and air ambulance work as an air transfer practitioner for the Isle of Man TT.

Since 2017, Ana has been an International Nurse Advisor and is now working with AeroMed by CLCA as a medical case manager.
But did you know that Ana is also passionate about digital health, sustainability, and female empowerment? She's an avid traveller, diver, and photographer. In 2022, Ana finished her MScBA and obtained her PADI OWD certificate. She's currently working towards her PADI AOWD and is taking piano classes.

Ana has also volunteered her time and skills at a local animal shelter and participated in a pine tree plantation after devastating fires destroyed her region's forest in 2017. We are so grateful to have Ana on our team, and we hope you'll join us in celebrating her this International Women's Week!

As part of International Women’s Week, we are celebrating amazing women from the CLCA Group.

Meet Hayley, a Bookings Co-Ordinator for CLCA Nursing and AeroMed by CLCA based at our head office in Shrewsbury.

“I thought I would introduce myself and tell you a little about what I get up to in my spare time outside of working at CLCA.
I have always been driven by sport and a couple of years ago I decided to concentrate my efforts into cycling. This has led me into the multisport world of Duathlon & Triathlon. At the tail end of the 2021 season I entered my first event, The Shropshire Sprint Triathlon. Sadly, due to algae affecting the water there had to be a last-minute change to the race format, therefore making the event a Duathlon. To my surprise I came away with 1st Female Overall. A couple of weeks later I then went on to do Ludlow Sprint Triathlon scooping up 2nd Female Overall.

With the successes of 2021 I knew I had found a love for this sport so continued to train throughout the Winter to get myself ready for 2022, which was my first full season of multisport. The hard graft of training certainly paid off and 2022 exceeded all my expectations across a variety of disciplines, from the overall win for the SCCA Women’s Hill Climbing Championship, 2nd female overall at the Summer Fell Running series to the primary focus, Multisport. The year started off well with 3rd in my AG at the Oulton Park Spring Standard Distance Duathlon British Championships to 1st in my AG at Leeds Sprint Triathlon. At the Sprint Distance Triathlon English Championships held at Mallory Park I came away with a 2nd in my AG to finishing the season on a high with the overall win at Ludlow Sprint Triathlon.

My main two A races of the 2022 season were both team GB Age Group Qualifiers. Shropshire Standard Distance Triathlon (5th in AG) & Oulton Park Autumn Standard Distance Duathlon (2nd in AG). Since getting into multisport and speaking to others I had set my eyes on one day being able to achieve this goal of putting on the GB colours and representing the country doing something I love.

Despite only being in my first full season I was absolutely delighted to have achieved the results for the above two races and my reward for all my hard work was finding out I had done enough to qualify and represent Team GB in both disciplines in 2023.

2023 kick starts with the European Standard Distance Duathlon Championships in Venice which takes place on the 19th March! The World Standard Distance Triathlon Championships will take place in September in Spain. I also would like to say a big thank you to JP2 Coaching for your support.”

As part of International Women’s Week, we are celebrating amazing women from the CLCA Group.

Meet Cherry, Managing Director of the CLCA Group.

Cherry first formed CLCA in 2012 whilst working as a nurse in the National Health Service, starting with the creation of her first business CLCA Nursing. This company was fabricated in response to her working with a young disabled child, where she personally provided high quality, bespoke home care services. She realised that there was a greater need for these services in the whole West Midlands region of England and sought to combat this issue through CLCA Nursing. 10 years later and the Nursing part of the CLCA Group has over 100 employees covering all of the West Midlands providing live-in carers, homecare and providing nurses to the National Health Service.

Following the success of her first business, Cherry wanted to use all the skills she had learnt from providing a personalised medical service and move this ethos to the international market. After completing a flight nurse course, she discovered the International Medical Assistance market and in 2019 created the second company within the group, AeroMed By CLCA. Aeromed by CLCA sought to provide a completely bespoke remote medical case management and repatriation service for the international travel insurance market. The company has gone on to have multiple major insurance contracts and continues to provide the highest levels of service to international clients.
Outside of running the CLCA Group, Cherry spends a lot of her time with her children and travelling to see her family in the USA and the Philippines alongside personally supporting Shropshire’s local charities and sports teams.

Each day of the week, we will be showcasing some of the amazing women that are part of the CLCA family.

Meet Judy! From Pampanga, Philippines!

Wanting to experience life outside of the Philippines, Judy moved to the UK last February through the sponsorship program by CLCA’s overseas recruitment team.
She immediately became part of the CLCA family, joining the Head Office team just 3 days after arriving in the country!!

Judy understands life in another country can be very different but she’s eager to explore more of the world and learn from her experiences. She’s ready to face the challenges of adapting to new situations, cultures & life outside of her comfort zone. In light of her new adventure, Judy is excited to meet new people of various backgrounds in the UKs rising cultural diversity.

Recalling life in the Philippines: “It was simple. Food was simple yet delicious. There is a strong Christian fellowship. Care giving & hospitality has become part of Filipino psyche & has consequently become ingrained in our culture”.

We realise the significance of the work we do and how it can be life changing for our patients to receive the proper care they deserve, prioritising their health & wellbeing. This shared mindset allows Judy to seamlessly integrate into the CLCA family and work towards the same goals together.

“CLCA helped ease the whole process by providing guidance on what I needed to do step-by-step throughout the recruitment process. Ensuring no documents were missed and that I fulfilled all prerequisites. The sponsorship provided by CLCA also created a stronger case for me to make the move.” CLCA is one of the A-list of recruiters publish through the Home office.

Now, having somewhat adjusted to UK climate, Judy is well underway with training and is taking a step-by-step approach to the daily influx of new information. Judy expressed an interest in taking extra online courses in the future to help further her learning & unlock more of her potential.

But it’s not all work, work, work for Judy! In her spare time, Judy loves to sing; and she also teaches English & Children’s English to Chinese students.

We’re proud to have Judy onboard with CLCA and of everyone in Head Office that was involved with her transition. Additions like Judy to the CLCA family ensure that we continue to grow but in the right direction, with unified values & goals that put our patients first.

CLCA provides care for the NHS and the community. The business was established in 2012 in Shropshire, in the West Midlands providing care across the UK.

The Company’s initial focus was to provide temporary staffing solutions to fill in staffing shortages in the NHS and other private organisations.

Shortly after, CLCA added a new division, the Homecare Division, which aims to deliver its services to the hospital-at-home market through the NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC).

This has allowed the Company to fully support the Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathway set out by NHS England.
