We are a family run business, founded in 1942. Recognised for clinical excellence by the association

Husband & wife team, Gareth & Jenny Hardcastle now run the practice together with their associate Optometrist Maggie Cadwallader and a dedicated team of optical assistants and receptionists. Following a re-location to 4 & 5 Dogpole and extensive refurbishment work, the practice now boasts the latest technology to maintain and improve eye health. The emphasis of the practice has always been firmly on the health care of the eye. Jenny & Gareth are specialist Optometrists with additional qualifications in glaucoma detection and management, pediatric eye care and independent prescribing. In addition, all three of our Optometrists undertake specialist clinics in the hospital. We are confident that Shrewsbury Optometry offers the very highest standards in clinical care and excellence.

If you set your mind back to SALT. September, you may remember we had a prize draw for our Eye Club members.

Mr Rushworth was the lucky winner of a pair of lenses and a SALT. frame of his choice.
He has been in to collect them and we had to get a picture (or 3!)

Back in August, the staff at Shrewsbury Optometry had a lovely day out at Talyllyn railway.
We had a ride on a steam train and had a stunning afternoon tea.

Team building is so important and (we may be biased, but...) we have a fantastic team here.

Did you know diabetes can impact your vision?

Diabetic retinopathy does not usually have any symptoms at first. It's usually found when you go to your diabetic eye screening appointments.

In the later stages, symptoms can include:

- your eyesight getting worse
- blurred vision
- dots and lines (floaters) in your vision
- finding it harder to see in the dark or low light

The symptoms may gradually get worse over time. It can eventually lead to sight loss.

If you are diabetic or experiencing any of the symptoms above, please get in touch with your optometrist.

When it comes to Anne & Valentin, it's so hard to just pick one frame. So the lovely Lorraine chose two!
One for every day and some sunglasses for the sunnier days.

She has sent us a message since then saying -
