Are you worried about your child’s reading ability? They might miss out words, struggle to keep their place on the page, or mention that text appears to move or form patterns. These signs can sometimes be linked to visual stress. While it’s important to ensure your child has a recent eye examination, you may also wish to explore a colourimetry assessment if these issues sound familiar.

Visual stress is often overlooked, but in some cases it can be eased with the use of coloured overlays or tinted lenses. Our colourimetry assessments are designed to identify whether this type of support could help your child.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month.

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the optic nerve, which carries visual information from the eye to the brain. It occurs most often in people over the age of 50 and, if not detected and treated early, can lead to permanent loss of vision.

Sometimes glaucoma can develop suddenly and cause symptoms such as:

- intense eye pain
- a red eye
- tenderness around the eyes
- seeing rainbow-coloured circles around bright lights
- blurred vision
- feeling sick (nausea) and being sick
a headache

If you notice any changes in your vision, please get yourself booked in to see your optometrist! 😊
