I often see many people suffer with pain and injuries that can affect not only their physical being but also their mental well being. What I offer will be an insight into the possible causes of pain and injury and what you can do to help yourself. My hands on skills not only as a soft tissue therapist but a pilates teacher gives me the ability to be able to see and feel restrictions.

Apart from Pilates, tennis has played a major part in my life. I was introduced to it approximately 8 years ago by a lovely man called Alan Fitzsimmons who was the husband of one of my clients. I always thought tennis was a ‘upper class’ game and was intimidated by tennis clubs. He went out of his way to take me to his club, The crescent at Sidcup and gave me a couple of lessons, introduced me to the coach Ernie and I instantly was hooked. With the help of lessons but also just playing matches I have improved each year, a bit like Pilates. You have to show up, put in the practice and you never know what you can achieve. Mixed doubles champs this year! 😀💪🏻

The winter months always test my motivation and mood. The shorter days and the darker mornings take their toll. But then there are moments like this one, a memorable sunny day I spent with my niece in August this year, it reminds me the nights will start to become lighter and the days slightly longer. Winter can feel heavy, but it also invites us to slow down, be gentle with ourselves, and find joy in some warmer moments of the year.

Technique in padel is so important, as in most sports. I was becoming so frustrated at how my back hand volley playing padel wasn't working for me, he suggested a quick video so he could show me that my racket was often behind me rather than in front. As a Pilates instructor, one of the hardest things I've had to learn is how to watch myself on video, I am my toughest critic, I notice every angle, every wrong thing that I could have done better, but over time I have realised it isn't about judgement, it's about growth. I now try to notice the opportunity to improve and refine my skills. I'm also pleased to say my back hand volleys have also improved! 😀

I often see clients that tell me they have done the most common activity, such as reaching for a toothbrush and have ended up with severe back pain. In today's digital age, Pilates instructors, especially those with smaller studios, often feel a unique pressure on social media. It can feel overwhelming to constantly create engaging content that showcases our unique approach and expertise. Sometimes, it's the pressure we place on ourselves to deliver what we feel is 'watchable content' and it's easy to be drawn in to comparing ourselves to other studios. How often have you created a video that you then constantly film again or edit to make sure 'its right'? Smaller studios have limited budgets and it's important to remember that our smaller scale brings it's own strength, it's not about the number of followers or the size of the studio; it's about the impact we have on each individual client.

I have been playing tennis for over 10 years, and I absolutely love the game. More recently, in the past year I have been drawn into the Padel world! My Dad, who lives in Spain introduced me to it over 3 years ago, at the time I was undecided and protective over my tennis and pushed it to one side. However, since joining my local padel club, I have grown to love it just as much as tennis. The two have some similarities but totally different techniques, it made relate it to my own Pilates practice. There are many different Pilates teaching styles out there, and I try to embrace the differences and allow myself to love the variations between them, it doesn't mean that I love one more than the other, I just find the joy of movement from each perspective which allows me to continue to evolve and share my passion of Pilates.

My name is Kathy, and I'm a qualified Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist. I qualified in January 2012 with the prestigious London branch of the UK's leading Sports Massage School, NLSSM (www.nlssm.com), obtaining a BTEC Level 5.

As a result of the high level of training I received in my field it provides me with the skills to deliver treatment plans that are specific to you, ensuring you receive the right massage techniques to help you achieve the reasons why you initially booked in for treatment.

You will receive a personable, professional and results focussed treatment. My aim is for you to leave my clinic with less pain, less muscular tension and home care exercises to keep you moving and help towards maintaining a healthy body.

Sports massage is not just for athletes, I treat many people who suffer with work related posture, stress and anxiety. In addition massage can help if you are suffering with conditions such as arthritis or post surgery back operations, hip and knee replacements.
