We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🥳

The studio is now closed for the holidays as we take time to recharge and reset for a brand new year. We will be back in the studio on 3rd January with our exciting new timetable.

‼️New Class Alert ‼️
Qigong with Wendy
Friday mornings
10:30am - 11:15am (45 minutes)
£10.50 drop-in price
Starting 9th January 2026

About qigong:
Qigong (pronounced chi gong) is an ancient Chinese practice, similar to tai chi, which involves gentle exercise. It can have many potential benefits to health and wellbeing, including improvements in: body awareness, posture, co-ordination, balance, strength, concentration and vitality.

‘Qi’ translates as ‘energy’ and ‘gong’ as ‘work’ or ‘training’. The main tools for working with energy are the mind, the body and the breath. Qigong draws inspiration from nature, so the names of many of the practices refer to animals and the natural environment. Over millennia, qigong has been used for health, the martial arts and spirituality.

Qigong is a gentle form of exercise that is usually performed standing, so if you find other forms of exercise too strenuous or if you have difficulty with floor-based classes, this could be a good alternative for you.

The slow, repetitive movements in qigong make it wonderfully meditative, so if you struggle with other forms of meditation, this form of moving meditation may work for you.

🌳 Tree Pose (Vrksasana):
Tree Pose (Sanskrit: Vrksasana) embodies the qualities of grounding and spiritual seeking.

The Story
The pose is often linked to the intense spiritual practice (Tapas) of the ancient Sage Dattatreya. To achieve deep self-realization, the sage would stand motionless in the forest for long periods, mimicking the unwavering steadiness and focus of a tree.

The Symbolism
The posture is a meditation on remaining centered amidst life's chaos:

The pose is a physical metaphor: be deeply rooted in your foundation while remaining open to growth and the world above.
