Nineteen years have flown on by,
But I can still hear that newborn cry,
The girl who made me a mum that day,
And stole my heart in every way.
A year and a half of sleepless nights,
Rocking you ‘til morning light,
With tiny noises that made me smile—
Our little Granny Grunt all the while
You’re so much like me, it’s true,
Talented, funny, quirky too,
A beauty inside and out you’ve grown,
With a spark and soul all of your own.
You’ve taught me love in every form,
Through sunny days and every storm,
I’m lucky, blessed, and endlessly proud,
To call you mine and say it loud.
So here’s to you, my shining star,
The first to show me who we are,
No matter where life takes your view,
You’ll always be my first “I love you.”
Just like your mum uh-oh, beware,
With a wit and style beyond compare,
Talented, funny, a little bit mad,
The best kind of crazy a mum ever had.
So here’s to nineteen—what a ride!
From sleepless nights to bursting pride,
You were my first, my this is new,
And always my favourite Granny Grunt too.
