Aqua aerobics tomorrow ladies and I can’t wait to jump in that pool and see how hard you really work.
Bright eyed, bushy tailed and raring to go!! 💪🏼👍

Did anybody watch good morning Britain this morning?
One of the presenters is a public health ambassador.
Which is fantastic.
The one biggest thing she tells people is cook your own food and stop eating take-always.
It’s simple yet so effective and will save you so much money and will be great for your health and waistline.
This lady admitted that she used to eat take-always and put on two stone. Two months ago she decided to make one simple change and that was to cook and has seen amazing results.
It sometimes takes just one small change to make a dramatic difference in your life.

Just back from teaching aqua aerobics
People who have never done it think it’s easy. Trust me it’s not!
However, it’s great for giving your joints support, you don’t feel uncomfortable or sweaty either.
When you’re in the water and training, the water is massaging your lymphatic systems helping your body get rid of toxins. So when you have finished your class, firstly make sure you wash off that chlorine, and drink plenty of water to continue helping your body cleanse
Go on, give it a go xx

When you’re on a flight and the attendant does the safety talk
Why do they tell you to fit your oxygen mask on first??

Because you are the most important person and without you being fit and able, you cannot help others.

I use this to explain why you and your health matters.
You are important, you matter, especially to your family.

Let’s all learn to love ourselves from within.

Good evening everybody
I haven’t posted for a while and I apologise.
If you would like to make a comment or have any questions or experiences that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you.
For example
What’s worked for you in regards diet or lifestyle change
Recipes that you have found
What you think of diets and the way
Food labels can become confusing.

I’ll be sharing with you information about the public health collaboration and a few guidelines that they share.
I had a great chat with a local gp who is keen to make changes and who wants to become a public health ambassador too.
It’s exciting times.
I think everybody is becoming more aware but don’t always know where to start
Have a great week

23.8grams of sugar in what is seen as a healthy yogurt

23.75g of saturated fats in another brand of yogurt.

We all see yogurts as a healthier choice but not always so

A popular Children’s yogurt has the same sugar per pot equivalent to four biscuits.

Be label aware, not just on yogurts, this was just an example.

I love onken natural set yogurt as very low in sugars and saturated fats
Always look at per 100g not portion size when it comes to reading food labels.
Anything that’s 5g per 100g or less fat is low in fat.

Non dairy is usually lower in saturated fats.

Not everything sold low fat is a better option as sugar can be added to replace the fat

Eat natural as much as you can
The best thing you can do for your health is remove processed and refined foods.

Happy healthy eating

Hello everybody
I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful weather just please remember sunscreen
I wanted to share with you what I’ve been really concentrating on this week.
SLEEP
Everybody has heard about blue light?
The back light from electronic devises and it has shown to disturb sleep our natural circadian rhythm of our body.
I can honestly say that I have been switching off my tv and mobile phone and have been picking up a book and reading at least for half an hour before bed and going to bed the same time every night.
I’ve also purchased from the white company a relaxing spray mist for my pillow. I can honestly say that I have slept better, not woken up during the night and for once really felt refreshed.
Getting a good nights sleep can aid digestion, may help with anxiety and even with helping to curb those cheeky snacks we crave when we feel that afternoon slump.
So go on, what are you waiting for. Grab some ‘me’ time at the end of the day, it’s great for your health
Happy sleeping people 👍

There’s been a lot of talk about diets lately especially with type 2 diabetes on the increase.

But let’s look at something that affects every woman from late 30’s onwards and that’s Perimenopause towards menopause

Let’s talk about ways we can all support each other
What’s worked for you in a holistic way and how you deal with it on a day to day basis.

There’s so much information regarding different diets
What you should think about is a diet generally consists of a calorie deficit that’s how most work. If you remove a food group from your diet you are creating a calorie deficit. But please be aware that you can actually create a food intolerance that may not have already been there and when you try adding it back into the diet possible weight gain may also occur.

My thoughts on diets are this
How about reading up on all the pros and cons first and decide what will work and gives long term sustainability for you.

I’ve been looking at some of these diets and think that by research you can take all the benefits different diets provide and combine them to create a healthy way of life

For example:
The Mediterranean diet focuses on essential fats, whole grains and proteins mainly from fish. This is great for a healthy heart, provides essential fats which may contribute to good cholesterol. It also removes processed foods which is always a bonus. Fish is also a gentle protein that our body can easily absorb.

High fibre diet. We are all deficient in fibre due to the western diet we eat. This may aid digestion, it may also help you feel fuller for longer so may aid with weight loss, and research suggests it may help the fight against colon and bowel cancers.
Low carb diet. A great one for type 2 diabetes. It helps control our blood sugar balance and insulin resistance and also may help prevent sugar cravings. choose slow release carbs and remove processed white carbs

When I talk about diets I refer to the foods that you eat.
By eating healthy and with portion control should enable you to still have a treat and not have to forgo what you like but in moderation.
One thing I would like to add is that as a nutrition and lifestyle coach I do not promote any quick fixes or meal replacement diets.

I’ve been gifted an amazing book called
Mindfulness for Dummies
By a man called Shamash Alidina.
Mindfulness is so beneficial to us all and can help us in so many ways.
What I’m really keen to read is how it helps us heal from within and begin to make positive choices and changes in our lives.
Thank you Shamash for the gift

Amazing time at the public health collaboration conference.
We’ve even managed to have some statistics shown on NICE guidelines on the effects of processed carbohydrates.
If anybody would like to find out more in regards what a public health ambassador does, or is interested in receiving free nutritional advice via the phc, please contact me.
We are beginning to collaborate with the nhs and it’s exciting stuff.
I’m more than happy to talk to people/organisations. This is purely voluntary.
We are currently trying to raise awareness and change the eatwell plate. This will be an amazing achievement for us all.
