Let's meet Jay ...

Jay first came to us on a counselling placement three years ago, and what a journey it has been to witness. From those early days, you could already see her heart for people, but over time she has grown into something truly special. Her confidence, strength, and natural ability to connect with others have flourished, shaping her into someone who brings comfort and calm wherever she goes. She carries herself with such kindness and grace, always putting others first and offering a listening ear when it’s needed most.

Today, Jay coordinates our Skegness Night Light Café, and she does an absolutely fantastic job. Her caring, compassionate, and loving nature shines through in everything she does, creating a safe and welcoming space for all who walk through the door. She is always willing to help, always ready to go the extra mile, and her dedication never goes unnoticed. We are so incredibly proud of her and all she has achieved — we truly love her to pieces.

“How are you, really?” It’s a simple question—but for many men, it’s one we’ve been taught to brush off with “I’m fine” and carry on. The truth is, strength isn’t found in silence; it’s found in honesty. Behind the smiles and the jokes, there can be pressure, pain, and exhaustion that no one sees. Checking in—properly checking in—can save a life, including your own. It’s okay to not have it all together, to speak up, to reach out, to say “I’m struggling.” You don’t have to carry it alone. Sometimes, one real conversation can be the turning point.

Today we held a two-hour disco focused on movement and mood for wellbeing. Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, lifting the spirit and encouraging us to move in ways that feel natural and joyful. Whether it was dancing, tapping a foot, clapping along, or simply swaying to the rhythm, the room was full of energy and smiles. Getting our bodies moving, even in small ways, can have a powerful impact on how we feel, helping to release tension and boost our mood.

Moments like this remind us that wellbeing doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as turning up the music, sharing a space with others, and allowing ourselves to move freely and enjoy the moment. Music has the power to lift our hearts, spark memories and create connection, and today’s disco was a beautiful example of how something so simple can support both our physical activity and our mental health.

This morning’s Partnership Collective meeting brought together a fantastic group of professionals, all committed to collaboration, shared learning, and improving outcomes across our services. Darren first came to the Wellbeing Hub after it was suggested by his GP—and even stepping through the door was a huge achievement. Sitting down to talk didn’t come easy either. Week by week, over countless coffees, conversations and walks along the seafront, we built trust at Darren’s pace. It took time, patience, and courage, but slowly he began to find his footing again.

Fast forward 18 months, and Darren’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Not only does he now attend our men’s support group, Bro Pro UK, every week, he’s also stepped into leadership as the Location Lead for Bro Pro Louth and co-lead for Bro Pro Skegness. On top of that, he gives his time supporting others at our Night Light Café. Darren’s story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, growth is always possible—and sometimes, the bravest step is simply walking through the door.

I am so proud of you! 🩵

We’re really pleased to share a small update on the development of “You Belong”, a new local mental health and wellbeing app that began as an idea from Michael Grunnill. His vision was simple but powerful: “I wanted to inspire people to reach out and know that there was help out there.” From that thought, a project has started to grow that we hope will make it easier for people to find support, connection, and reassurance within their own community.

The app is currently being developed in partnership with myself and the Wellbeing Hub, bringing together lived experience, community insight, and local support networks. Our aim is to create something that genuinely helps people — a space where individuals can quickly find resources, encouragement, and places to turn when life feels heavy. It’s still early in the journey, but we’re excited about what You Belong could become and the difference it may make for people across our communities.

Because at the heart of it all is a simple truth: you are not alone, and you belong.

There’s something incredibly powerful about reconnecting with the earth beneath our feet. Walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil — often called grounding or earthing — is a simple but effective way to slow down and reset. Feeling the cool grass or warm sand under your feet can help calm the mind, reduce stress, and bring your attention back to the present moment. In a world that moves so fast, sometimes the most healing thing we can do is pause, breathe, and reconnect with nature.

Whether it’s a quiet moment in the garden, a barefoot stroll along the beach, or standing in the sand watching the waves roll in, grounding reminds us that wellbeing doesn’t always need to be complicated. These small moments of connection with nature can help lift our mood, ease anxiety, and create a sense of balance. Sometimes the simplest things — fresh air, open space, and the earth beneath our feet — can make the biggest difference. 🌿🌊

Healthy routines might seem small, but they quietly shape the direction of our whole day. Something as simple as making your bed each morning is more than tidying up — it’s a promise to yourself that you’re choosing order over chaos and intention over drifting. It’s the first win of the day, a reminder that you can take control of what’s in front of you. From there, momentum builds — a glass of water, a short walk, a moment of gratitude. These small, steady habits create stability for our minds and strength for our wellbeing. Never underestimate the power of starting well; little disciplines done daily often lead to big changes over time.

We recently hosted a beautiful sound bath session at Kenwick Park Resort & Spa, in partnership with Away Resorts, led by sound therapist Zak Foster. The spa setting created the perfect calm space for everyone to switch off and simply be. As the gentle sounds of the bowls and chimes filled the room, you could feel the tension start to melt away and the atmosphere soften.

A sound bath is a simple but powerful way to relax the mind and body. The soothing vibrations help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and encourage deeper rest. Many people leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more balanced. Taking time out like this is a reminder of how important it is to pause, breathe, and look after ourselves.
