PLEASE SHARE: We are once again asking our communities for their support in sharing our message today.

We are extremely busy today, treating a high number of people in our A&E at James Cook Hospital.

Help us keep A&E for genuine emergencies such as:

✅ Signs of a heart attack: chest pain, pressure, heaviness, tightness or squeezing across the chest
✅ Signs of a stroke: face dropping on one side, cannot hold both arms up, difficulty speaking
✅ Sudden confusion: cannot be sure of own name or age
✅ Su***de attempt: by taking something or self-harming
✅ Severe difficulty breathing: not being able to get words out, choking or gasping
✅ Choking: on liquids or solids right now
✅ Heavy bleeding: spraying, pouring or enough to make a puddle
✅ Severe injuries: after a serious accident or assault
✅ Seizure (fit): shaking or jerking because of a fit, or unconscious (cannot be woken up)
✅ Sudden, rapid swelling: of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 999.

If you need urgent care but are not sure where to go, use NHS 111.

Teesside Mind's Dementia Outreach Advisory Service is bringing its START programme to East Cleveland. It's a set of 8 sessions delivered over 8 weeks.

New data shows around 1 in 4 young people leave school without protection against HPV (human papillomavirus).

Left school? You can get the HPV vaccine at your GP practice until the age of 25.

💙 Cervical Cancer Awareness Month & Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 💙

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and this week we are also marking Cervical Cancer Prevention Week – a time to highlight how cervical screening helps prevent cervical cancer.

At Hillside Practice, we have taken extra steps to support patients who are due or overdue for cervical screening:
✔️ Increased cervical screening appointments throughout January
✔️ Invitations sent by text, email, letter and phone
✔️ Information shared in the practice, on our website and across social media

📩 If you have received an invitation from us, please contact the practice to book your cervical screening appointment.

Cervical screening checks for high-risk HPV and can detect changes early, before they develop into cancer. Attending when invited is one of the most effective ways to protect your health.
