“One in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time.
🍃
There’s no single cause and there’s no one solution. After all, we’re all different!
🍃
But, the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems.
🍃
Some people are also at higher risk of feeling lonely than others”
Extract from
🍃
For Mental Health Awareness Week this year, has done a splendid job in bringing together local practitioners who have offered their services for free in support of
🍃
Yesterday, we gathered in the beautiful Denbers Wood and had the most gorgeous morning forest bathing.
🍃
Coming together, slowing down, remembering the benefits of reconnecting with ourselves, with others and with Nature can have hugely beneficial effects on our mental health.
🍃
And it certainly felt as though this was true yesterday. Truly an honour to guide a forest bathing walk yesterday to this amazing group of beautiful people. Thank to all and to as always for loving, caring for and maintaining this beautiful land.

Great fun and pure joy are the words I’m using to describe yesterday’s forest bathing walk with and her beautiful family Broughton Hall Estate]]
✨
Engaging all of our senses to give the mind a rest, we allowed our sense of smell to lead the way as we created woodland perfume potions and our sense of touch to explore Nature’s textures.
✨
Finishing off with nettle tea around the fire, I’d like to offer special thanks to my two little helpers for keeping the fires well furnished with twigs and for reminding us of the pleasures of simply being!
✨
Forest bathing is just one of the many wellbeing activities guests can add to and complement their stay Broughton Hall Estate]]

We live in a culture of speed and disconnect—disconnect from self, others, and the world around us, which gradually takes us away from the natural rhythms and cycles of our body, nature, and life.
🍃
Yesterday however, it was truly a pleasure to slow down and guide 2 busy professionals on a forest bathing walk
🍃
The process of slowing down begins to shift the internal chemistry, stimulating the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, our relaxation response.
🍃
As we slow down and draw forth conscious relaxation, we deactivate the stress response and increase our ability to become aware and feel our body in the present moment.
🍃
Present moment awareness invites us to pay attention to our current experience, which naturally awakens intuition and allows us to fully experience the world around us.
🍃
By cultivating a deeper relationship to self, we awaken to all that life has to offer.
🍃
If slowing down in nature sounds just the tonic, please DM for details of a forest bathing walk I’ll be guiding this weekend in the magical woods

A fabulous day with these two wonderful women & Sarah.
🍀
Beginning the day forest bathing, slowing down, reconnecting with both our inner and outer natures, later we explored more of the beautiful
🍀
After a delicious lunch in Utopia it was time for more nature immersion.
🍀
An invigorating wild swim, a woodland sauna and ending the day at moon-baths on the heather moorland, we had the most nourishing and truly joyous day.
🍀
Much gratitude to both Goli and Sarah for the opportunity to share all this amazing Sanctuary has to offer 🙏💚

Truly a pleasure to spend a couple of days with .sebastiano .powles and
🌲
Forest bathing, wild swimming, a woodland sauna, tree planting, walking, talking, interviews and many laughs along the way!
☀️
Fascinating to chat about the visually stunning and truly heartfelt documentary directed by which tracks .sebastiano as he embarks on an epic world-wide journey of self-inquiry, finding ways to address his then deep anxiety and frequent panic attacks.
☀️
From the streets of NY, to the stillness of the Ganges, and deep into the jungles of Peru, he immerses himself in meditation, self-inquiry, and plant medicine to find the root cause of the problem and learn how to finally find freedom from his crippling anxiety.
☀️
Along the way, as James speaks with many experts including Gary Weber and Joseph Goldstein to name a few, he finds answers as to why a materially successful person who seemingly has it all can continue to suffer from debilitating panic attacks, and recognises the beauty and power that lies within each of us, if we are willing to go there.
🌞
Thank you for making this happen and to .sebastiano and .powles for the opportunity to spend time in your beautiful presence❤️

In 1984, biologist Edward O. Wilson explained the affinity we have with nature and green spaces with his “biophilia” hypothesis.
🌲
His idea was that the environment in which humans evolved has shaped our brain, priming it to respond positively to cues, such as trees, lakes and waterways which would have enhanced survival for our ancestors.
🌳
This, Wilson argued, is why being in nature makes us feel good.
🌲
And really good we felt on the forest bathing walk I guided yesterday for these beautiful people at the beautiful .portugal

Spiritual Connection…
I wonder what this means to you?
✨
For me, it’s a deeper understanding of my inner self. Knowing what I need. Knowing what I want.
✨
All too often, we are too busy to ask ourselves these important questions.
✨
Yet, as we begin to slow down and open up to a sensory experience, the masks we wear, the exhausting roles we play begin to fall away.
✨
We begin to remember who we are. Allowing authenticity in this way, time just to be ourselves is an essential element of our emotional wellbeing.
✨
If you’re feeling like some spiritual connection is needed in your life, check out the website link in my bio for details of my next retreat

In partnership with nature, we nurture the relationships with ourselves, others and the natural environment
Throughout her life, Liz has travelled extensively spending many transformational years living in India, trekking the Himalaya, attending silent retreats and personal development courses, taking her on a fascinating journey of self knowledge and understanding.
Originally from Burnley in Lancashire, Liz emigrated to California in 1987 with her family. She subsequently lived in the Netherlands before returning to Lancashire to study Law and French. This took her to London where she practised law for 11 years but a career for life as a real estate lawyer was not for her!
In 2012, Liz discovered mindfulness and over the course of the following two years, she developed her own mindfulness practice and then trained to teach mindfulness courses. Since then, she has taught mindfulness in India and the UK and has had a busy private practice working with individuals and corporate groups.
However, Liz was drawn to find a practice that combined her extensive learning with her love of nature and is now a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide (trained and certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy).
As a guide (not a therapist), Liz helps participants to slow down, to bring attention to their body and senses, and to the place they are in. A sensuous exchange between the participant and the forest is the gateway to relationship with ourselves, with others and with the natural environment.
Liz offers guided forest bathing walks to public and corporate groups in the Lancashire and Yorkshire areas and recent guided walks have taken place at Gisburn Forest, Browsholme Hall, both in the Forest of Bowland (AONB), Broughton Hall near Skipton and Hagg Wood, Burnley.
