❗️Acorn Toxicity❗️

Post mortem centres are reporting a large number of cases of deaths due to acorn ingestion.

- Acorns contain substances that cause renal failure
- Green acorns are more toxic and a risk when blown off trees in stormy weather

Clinical signs:
- Seen 3-7 days after ingestion
- Include anorexia, abdominal pain and constipation
- Acutely affected animals die within 24-72 hours

We recommend removing any cattle in fields under oak trees immediately until the risk is reduced.
