Siblinks

Siblinks We offer online support & local groups specifically for siblings of children with additional needs. Hi, My names Naomi.

Groups will initially be ran in Heckington with a view to spread across Lincolnshire. Im a mummy of 2 remarkable children, one of which is severely autistic, has developmental delays, sensory processing issues and epilepsy. I have seen 1st hand the detrimental impact his disabilities and needs have had on my daughter and my relationship with her. I have lots of friends with SEN children too and their siblings are in exactly the same situation as my daughter. Our SEN childs 'needs' have to come before our other childs 'wants'. I recently set up SibLinks with my aim being to offer structured support specifically to siblings of children with additional needs. I have put together a committee of myself and 3 other remarkable ladies. Our collective aim is to provide support online or in the structured groups we'll be running. The support groups will be a safe environment for these children to talk freely about their experiences as a sibling and the mixed feelings that provokes within them. There will also be esteem building activities, a chance for them to do activities that aren't easy for them to do at home such as arts, crafts or just play games with other children. The most important thing I feel though is to give these children an opportunity to meet other children in similar situations to themselves. Having another child they can relate to will help relieve their feelings of isolation.

We'd like to wish you all a healthy, happy new year!!

As we enter into 2022 we're wanting to run our 1st block of support groups. The first block will be aimed at children aged between 8-12 approx. We are therefore looking to find 8x children around that age range. Once we've filled these places, we'll be able to offer a date for groups to start running.

If you have a child or know of anyone with a child that'd benefit from attending our support groups, please get in touch asap as spaces are limited.

A huge congratulations to Robyn (ages 9) for her amazing picture of her and her brother sat under her bed reading a bedtime story together.
She said reading with her 5 year old brother was her favourite time of the day as he'll sometimes snuggle with her and occasionally say her name ❤💙
Your picture and story behind it really touched the hearts of the judges 😊
