Chinese New Year was no exception 🏮

Today is also the Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, which marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture - we hope everyone enjoys the celebrations! 🐉
Additionally, the evening of the 17th of February also marks the first day of Ramadan! We wish all those taking part a peaceful and prosperous month ahead! ☪
Did you know❓️
Ramadan remembers the month the Qur'an (the Muslim holy book) was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Importantly, it’s the month in which Muslims practice one of the five pillars of Islam, Sawm, or fasting. 🕌

It's Children's Mental Health Week 💚
We asked some of our residents, "If you were young again, what would you not bother worrying about?" Below are some of the responses 👇
This week, Oxendon House Care Home teamed up with a wonderful local charity, Hab-Antibullying & mental health for some intergenerational engagement! Hab provide free support, advice and counselling for anyone suffering from, or affected by, bullying, mental health issues, domestic abuse, disabilities and bereavement.
The Oxendon team were joined by the charity's founder and volunteers who spoke to our residents about the charity 💙 Our residents come from a diverse background, and have lived long, colorful lives - they have certainly picked up some tips along the way! 💙

Bringing Generations Together: Edwinstowe Care Home and Happy Hearts Nursery Launch ‘Hearts and Smiles’ 💕
Residents are bridging generations thanks to a heartwarming new community initiative between Nightingale Nursing & Care Home and Stephanie Haynes Happy Hearts Childcare in Edwinstowe.
The weekly sessions are designed to encourage connection and friendship between the youngest and oldest members of the community in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Our first session was a resounding success, fostering meaningful engagement and joy across generations. Witnessing the positive impact on our residents’ well-being was wonderful and we can't wait for Happy Hearts' next visit! 🥰

We locate our homes, at the heart of the local communities which they serve, in original period properties with character at their centre. We endeavour to retain as many of the original features as we can, whilst sympathetically extending, modernising and refurbishing the buildings to enhance the standard of living for all our residents. This helps us to achieve, what we believe to be the optimum size for a care home (40-50 residents), in terms of balancing the culture and community offered by our homes, with their operational efficiency. In addition, we require that all of our homes, offer attractive private grounds for the use of our residents and their visitors. Jasmine provides a combination of nursing, residential and dementia care across its five homes. To see more specific details on our homes please see “Our Homes” page.
Background
Jasmine Healthcare was conceived by Chris Clark, in early 2004. Chris possessed first-hand experience of care homes through personal family experience, where he had found the standards of accommodation and care offered to be poor. As a result, Chris passionately believes that many care homes for the elderly in England need to be improved. Consequently, Jasmine’s mission has always been:
Our Mission
“By prioritising our people, our mission is to provide the highest standards of care in our own homes and to improve elderly care across our industry”
Our Aims
The specific aims of our mission are as follows:
For all our homes to have a Jasmine Compliance Score of over 80% at all times
For all our homes to have a staff retention rate of over 70% per year
For all our homes to be rated Good or Outstanding by CQC and all other Regulatory bodies
For all our homes to be over 95% occupied, so that as many residents as possible can enjoy our high standards of care
Our Values
At the core of everything we do, are the Jasmine Values. We believe that, by the whole Jasmine Team exemplifying these values, we will continue to achieve our Mission and Aims:
Passionate about providing the Highest Standards of Care;
Committed to Training;
To want to be One Big Team;
To Communicate Openly, Honestly & Effectively;
To Have & Reward a Strong Work Ethic;
To provide a Positive Working Environment;
To provide a Homely place for our Residents to live;
To Embrace Change;
A belief that everyone is an Ambassador for Jasmine;
To act with Integrity by Always Doing what we Say we will; and
