Yesterday we ran two Fire Warden courses at King Edward VI Academy in Spilsby, Lincolnshire.

Luckily, we managed to get out in between the rain showers for the practical parts.

Thank you to all the delegates who helped make the training enjoyable.

✅ Closed internal doors?🚪
✅ Made sure exits are clear? ➡️
✅ Know where your keys 🔑 are?
✅ Have a phone📱 in your bedroom 🛌 for emergencies

LFR attend a number of incidents involving aftermarket electricals.

Here a plug exploded when first plugged in. It was purchased from what looked like a reputable online retailer. It came from China with no British standard markings.

Advice for checking plugs on your appliances;

Look for cracks or damage on the casing.

Look for signs of overheating, such as discoloured casing or cable.

Check the plug meets British Standard BS 1363 – it will be marked on the back.

Check that the plug cable is firmly clamped into the plug and no coloured plug wires are showing
