Today at Signature at Farnham Common we shared a really special moment over lunch. One of our lovely residents was so delighted with his meal that he couldn’t stop thanking our talented chef, Sandra!

At Signature, our culinary team works hard to create meals that are not only delicious but also nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared every day. Using high quality ingredients, our in house chefs cater for all dietary needs, from vegetarian and diabetic diets to dishes for those living with dysphagia. Ensuring every resident enjoys food that’s both safe and satisfying.

Helena began her career in care in 2015 when she came to the United Kingdom and started working as a carer. From the very beginning, she was drawn to supporting those living with dementia, and this quickly became her true passion. Over the years, she has remained deeply committed to developing her knowledge, skills, and understanding so that she can provide compassionate, meaningful, and person-centred support to those in her care.

She is proud to now work as the Dementia Care Manager at Farnham Common, where she is dedicated to ensuring residents experience a life filled with dignity, happiness, comfort, and joy. Helena believes that high-quality dementia care is built on kindness, patience, respect, and genuine human connection, and she is passionate about supporting her team to deliver this every day. Her goal is always to create a safe, warm, and supportive environment that gives residents and their families true peace of mind, knowing they are valued, understood, and cared for with the highest standards.

🐾 A Paws-itively Lovely Day Out! 🐾

Our wonderful residents recently enjoyed a trip to Dogs Trust in Harefield, where they spent time meeting some truly beautiful dogs and learning more about the incredible work this charity does to care for and rehome our four-legged friends 🐶

And the fun doesn’t stop there…

This visit is the perfect lead-up to Signature at Farnham Common’s “Paws & Applause” Dog Show taking place on Saturday 21st March, 2pm–4pm! 🎉🐕

Join us for a light-hearted afternoon, featuring 6 fun dog show categories and plenty of opportunities to celebrate our canine companions — all while supporting the amazing work of Dogs Trust.

We recently welcomed Megan's Petting Paradise to our home, giving residents the opportunity to spend time holding and interacting with a range of animals.

The session provided valuable sensory stimulation through touch, movement and sound, offering a hands-on experience that engaged residents in a meaningful way.

Visits like this are more than just enjoyable, they offer real benefits. Spending time with animals can help reduce stress and anxiety, lift mood, and encourage relaxation. For many residents, it also sparks memories of past pets or rural life, supporting reminiscence and meaningful conversation.

What a fantastic evening we had celebrating in our beautiful Caldicott Pub this week! 🍻✨

It was so lovely to welcome so many friends from our local community to Signature at Farnham Common a Pub Quiz. We were delighted to host teams , Burnham Beeches Rotary, Clayton Stoke Solicitors, u3a UK, and of course our very own⭐ Signature Team ⭐ — the competition was fierce but friendly!

Our wonderful Chef Jay kept everyone fuelled with a delicious selection of traditional bar snacks, freshly prepared and served throughout the evening. Guests enjoyed cheese & onion tarts, Scotch eggs, honey & mustard sausages, cheese straws and more — the perfect accompaniments to a classic pub quiz atmosphere.

A huge thank you to our brilliant Quiz Master James, who did a sterling job of hosting and keeping the teams in order 😊👏

The quiz featured a variety of rounds, starting with a pub-themed challenge, followed by music and general knowledge — but the highlight of the evening had to be the paper aeroplane round! Teams designed, built and flew their own creations, with points awarded for both distance and aesthetics. The creativity (and competitive spirit!) on display was amazing!

It truly was a wonderful community evening filled with laughter, teamwork and great company.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported the event — we can’t wait to welcome you back to the Caldicott Pub again soon! 🏆🎉

💪 Wellbeing in Action – Daily Exercise Classes

At Signature at Farnham Common, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and our daily exercise classes play an important role in keeping our residents active, strong and independent.

One of our much-loved sessions is led by Ben Broadhead PT, a qualified personal trainer who specialises in working with the over 50s. Ben focuses on strength-building exercises designed to support functionality, helping our residents maintain their independence safely and for as long as possible.

His sessions are particularly popular with many of our gentlemen, often incorporating boxing pads for coordination and strength, and even football when the weather allows! ⚽🥊

Ben is passionate about the relationships he builds with our residents. While he supports and guides them physically, the experience is very much mutual — he values the wonderful conversations, wisdom and life experiences they share with him in return.

He finds his role incredibly rewarding, knowing he is helping to enhance our residents’ quality of life — and our residents certainly love the energy, fun and laughter he brings to his weekly visits.

During his time with Signature and Sunrise Care Homes, he has played a key role in operational leadership, regulatory compliance, team development, and, most importantly, delivering truly person-centred, high-quality care.

Alongside his healthcare expertise, Teshim is also an IT professional. This unique combination fuels his passion for improving systems and processes, embracing digital innovation, and finding ways to make life easier for both our residents and our team — while always keeping compassionate care at the heart of everything we do.
