Who doesn’t love an open fire? A cosy evening indoors particularly at this time of year is perfect. However smoke from open fires can sometimes exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma.
To avoid issues with excessive smoke you should :

πŸ”₯ Use newspaper and small pieces of dry wood to get started
πŸ”₯ Burn dry wood that has been split and stored for at least six months.
πŸ”₯ Make sure that the room with the fireplace is well-ventilated.
πŸ”₯ Never burn plastic or rubbish on the fire.
πŸ”₯ Finally, have your fireplace and chimney inspected and cleaned every year.
