Healthy eating
A nutritious, balanced and varied diet contributes significantly to good health. A balanced, good diet is especially important if you’re planning a pregnancy as your baby relies on you to provide the right balance of nutrients to help them grow and develop properly (even after they’re born). The more active you are during your pregnancy the easier you will find it to adjust to the naturally occurring changes in pregnancy including a change in shape and weight gain. It will also help you to cope with labour and get back into shape after your baby is born. If exercising with an instructor let them know are pregnant. If you are new to exercising start slowly and build up gradually.

A gradual return to exercise after birth is recommended but it should not involve high-impact exercises or sit-ups too quickly, to allow your stomach and pelvic floor muscles to recover.

To stop loneliness, every person needs:

💙To be truly included in schools, jobs, and community life.
🩷Not just "being there," but taking part.
💜To feel welcome and valued, to be invited to join in, and to be safe from stigma.
💚To have strong, supportive, and meaningful relationships with friends, family, and partners.

Around 1 in every 800 babies will be born with Down syndrome.

This is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome in the cells that make up their body.

The extra chromosome causes differences in how the body and brain develop.

🧡Each person with Down syndrome is different.
💛Each has their own individual identity, interests, likes and dislikes, gifts and talents, just like everyone else.
🩷Having Down syndrome is just one part of who we are!💙

This year's theme is Together Against Loneliness.

Everyone feels lonely sometimes. But for many people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness is a more common and painful experience.

Their families can feel lonely too, and feel cut off from support.

Loneliness can feel like different things:
💛Not having a group of friends or a community to belong to.
💙Not having a close, special person to share your feelings with.

💚The answer is real inclusion💚
👭It’s about having good friendships and relationships.
🌟It’s the feeling of being valued and knowing you belong.
This is a problem we can solve, and 'Together Against Loneliness' is our call to action.
We want to talk about the problem of loneliness and how we help people feel connected and that they belong.

As a Trust we would advise new parents not to co sleep, as there are greater risks of injury and sudden infant death syndrome of the baby.

However, we understand that this may be a choice that works for some families and we want to make sure if you do choose to co sleep, you do so in the safest way to reduce these risks.

The Lullaby Trust have an extensive range of information to help you keep your baby's sleep safer.
