It’s Movember - the month of the mighty mo! 🧔Behind the moustaches is an important message: men’s health matters.

At Bluebird Care, we’re proud to support the men in our community - dads, brothers, sons, and friends - to live well, stay connected, and reach out when they need a hand. Regular check-ups, staying active, and talking openly about mental health can make a world of difference.

This month, let’s check in, start a conversation, and remind the men in our lives that it’s always okay to ask for help. 💬💙

Did you know? Today is National Stress Awareness Day! 💙
Recognising physical signs of stress is important in helping to recover from it.
When we face a stressful situation, the body produces stress hormones. These hormones then trigger a response, fight or flight, as well as activating our immune system, to help us deal with dangerous situations. Sometimes this response is helpful, it can help us push beyond our ‘normal’ capabilities.
However too much stress, too often can cause negative effects, leaving us overwhelmed, and long-term affecting our physical and mental health.
Whether you’re a carer, customer, or loved one - remember to pause, breathe, and find small moments of calm.
A walk, a song, or simply sharing how you feel can make all the difference. Learn more on our website!

We’re proud to deliver care that’s personal, thoughtful, and truly centred around the whole family 💙

Thank you to Joanne for this wonderful review of how our care team supports her mum and dad with kindness and consistency with their care team, making them feel at ease in their own home.

"We have been using this company for a while now for my mum who has learning difficulties and vascular dementia. The carers have been amazing with her, very patient, caring and always treat her very well. Recently my dad has become unwell and he now also uses this service, he’s a very proud, old fashioned man, he has built up a good relationship with the carers who go in for my mum so after a chat with management, they have managed to put the same carers in place for both my mum and dad. This makes the whole caring package more personal. All the staff who I have been in contact with have been amazing, very down to earth and considerate of not only my parents' feelings but also of mine. Massive well done and thank you to all." - Joanne S

On Saturday, some of our team attended The Great British Care Awards - West Midlands at the ICC Birmingham. We were proud to have four nominations, recognising the passion, care, and dedication our incredible team shows every single day. 💙

Although we didn’t take home a trophy this time, we’re incredibly proud to have been finalists among the very best in the West Midlands care sector - a true testament to the hard work, compassion, and dedication of our amazing team.

Being finalists among the best in the West Midlands is something we’re so proud of! A huge well done to all the other finalists, and of course, the winners! 👏💫

Supporting Someone with Dementia When the Clocks Change ⏰️

The clock change can throw us all off a bit, but for someone living with dementia, it can be especially confusing. The change in daylight and routine can affect sleep, mood, and sense of time.

Here are a few simple ways to make things a little easier:
✏️Prepare early: Start adjusting routines gently on Saturday, so Sunday feels less of a shock.
⏰️Set the clocks in advance: Reset them before bed on Saturday night, or consider investing in easy-to-read digital clocks that automatically update.
🪟Use blackout blinds: These help keep bedrooms dark in the mornings and evenings, supporting a better sleep routine and reducing confusion about whether it’s day or night.
🗓️Stick to familiar routines: Keep meal times, medication, and favourite activities as consistent as possible.
☀️Encourage natural light: Open curtains during the day to help the body clock adjust to the new rhythm.
😊Offer reassurance: Gentle reminders, patience, and a calm presence can make a world of difference.

Small steps like these can make the clock change smoother and help your loved one feel settled, safe, and supported.💙
