Our Enhance B**b Buddy Cailin shares how she navigated returning to the gym after her surgery 🍒🏥💪🤍
“As per my surgeon’s instructions, I waited the full 6 weeks before getting back into the gym. I won’t lie, as someone who lives for the gym the thought of taking that much time off really worried me. But it genuinely went by SO much quicker than I expected.
My main focus during that time was healing properly and giving my body the best chance for a smooth recovery. I kept myself busy with 1–2 walks a day to help circulation and aid recovery, and that really helped both physically and mentally.
My first sessions back were very slow and controlled - mainly lower body work, keeping my heart rate low to avoid putting extra strain or pressure through my chest. It was massively trial and error, and figuring out which exercises would unexpectedly involve my chest (who knew sit-ups would feel so strange😅), and learning to adapt, no barbell on my back as I couldn’t stretch my arms that far back without strain.
I also wore a b**b band for the first few months back to help keep everything secure during movement, especially as I used to love running. If you’re the same, you can find these easily on Amazon and they make a big difference for comfort when easing back in - otherwise a high intensity sports bra should provide enough support!
If you’re coming back after surgery, my biggest advice is to listen to your body. Take things at your own pace, follow your surgeon’s guidance, and don’t rush the process. You only get one chance to heal properly, do it right the first time 🫶🏼”
