Most of you who know me will know that it is now been 6 months since I started working as an Independent Celebrant. All of my work so far has been as a funeral celebrant and I could never have gained the experience that I have to date without the help and support of certain funeral arrangers.
The Funeral Arrangers whose world I have come to appreciate as I learn more about this new role I work in. Helen who was brave enough and took the first chance on me, then Rachel, Angela and Gail. All have been so supportive.
For me it's a very nervous time as I try to manoeuvres my way through an industry i am just learning about, and like many people, I didn't appreciate just how much it's needed until this pandemic has highlighted what are the most important roles in our world.
Anyway, to these lovely ladies and the job they do and of course all of their colleagues too, This is for you. Helen, Rachel, Angela and Gail. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
An Ode To The Funeral Arrangers
Quietly, waiting to be there
Just for you
with answers to questions
on final farewells
You wish, you didn't have to do.
Patient, understanding, listening
To all you have been through
Each final farewell,
Made bearable, with their help to you,
Personal wishes and choices
Coffins, flowers and such
They support with their experience
When it all gets, just too much
Family dynamics and even secrets too
There is nothing they haven't heard
Before they have met with you,
Professional and presentable,
With strong hearts, taking in your grief
looking after your loved ones,
and your families grieving needs.
Now, at this time, more than ever before
The jobs people did, we took for granted
But now, they have come,
much more to the fore,
the unsung heroes, who are still there
when death has chapped on many a door
In gratitude to them,
our instant friends, who once, were strangers,
Thank you for what you do,
Our wonderful Funeral Arrangers
