Bruce Davies, Counsellor

Bruce Davies, Counsellor I'm a Person Centred Counsellor, which means I will always put you at the heart of any therapeutic pr I am also a qualified supervisor.

I am an experienced qualified counsellor, and registered member of the BACP. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment to allow you to explore the difficulties that you are experiencing. I work with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, social phobia, OCD, stress, low self-esteem, anger, relationship difficulties, abuse, loss and bereavement. I primarily work in a Person Centred approach, but integrate various models to meet your individual needs. These models include Gestalt, Existentialism,TA, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as using creativity when appropriate. I believe the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and the client is central to fostering change. It can help you gain awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how you interact in the world. Working collaboratively, we would identify both your strengths and areas for growth in order to draw on your resilience, enabling development and change to live a more fulfilling life. Effective therapy provides a confidential space to explore these issues and can be as short as a single session or it can last several years. My approach involves putting your needs at the heart of the therapeutic process and I will always work at a pace that suits you. Some people enter therapy knowing what they need to work through, others don’t. You may just have a feeling that something is not quite right. Regardless of what brings you to therapy I will meet you with warmth, empathy, understanding, and genuine interest. I have worked for various charitable organisations, within the NHS and privately. I am a registered member of the BACP and subscribe to their ethical framework. I also have a current (Dec 2016) enhanced disclosure DBS, enabling me to work with vulnerable adults and children. I am always furthering my own personal and professional development, ensuring my skills and knowledge are up to date, and that I, too, am involved in the process of change. I work in a Person Centred approach, integrating creative techniques. I am happy to provide supervision to counsellors whichever their modality.

With over ten years of experience, I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment to allow you to explore the difficulties that you are experiencing. As we emerge out of Covid19 restrictions, I am again offering face to face appointments. However, I understand that some people would prefer to engage in therapy online. Therefore I am happy to offer Zoom sessions, which are proven to be as effective to regular sessions conducted in person.

I am also a qualified supervisor. As an experienced supervisor I can ensure you provide good practice for your clients, facilitate clarity in therapeutic dynamics and offer support in personal development and self-care.
I work in a Person-Centred approach, integrating other modalities when appropriate. I supervise counsellors of all modalities, including supervision to students.

Try something creative.
Be that doodling on the side of a newspaper, painting with oils on canvas, or playing an instrument - it doesn't have to be a masterpiece.
If you can allow yourself to engage in the process, it may quiet the chatter of the mind, give more focus, or you may simply enjoy yourself being yourself.
Who knows what you may discover in the moment of creativity.
