Kenneth Wright 16/1/1947

Passed away 18/11/2025 peacefully at South Tyneside District Hospital. Husband of Valerie and loved father of Gillian and Kenneth. Father in law to Rachel and Derek and devoted granda to Hugh, Heather, Abi and Annabel.

Kenneth's service will be held on Friday 12th December 2025 1:15pm at South Shields Crematorium and then to raise a glass, at The Trimmers Arms from 2pm.

Flowers are most welcome for our dad but we would appreciate donations for Key to Life Food Bank on Boldon Lane. A donation box will be there in the Crematorium on the day. Or, just have a bloody good drink because we all know Ken was the most sociable person ‘this side of the Chelsea Dock’!

Thank you to everyone for their lovely messages, texts, cards and flowers. Gillian, me and our families look forward to seeing you all there.

Maureen Archer Wilson
Hebburn

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the late Maureen Archer Wilson on the 23rd of November 2025, aged 74 years.

An ode to Maureen Wilson. Beloved wife of Bryan, doting mam to Nicola and Molly, precious daughter of the late Meg and Taff. Loving sister to Margaret, Kathy, Lesley, Julie, Pauline , Paul and the late Dorothy, June, David and Michael. Dear sister in law to Ernie and Joe. Proud Aunty to Stephen, Karen, Christopher, Claire, Adam, Gary, Philip, Gemma, Amy, Danielle, Claire, Donna. Joanne, Gayle and the late Kev and partners. Loved aunty of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at South Shields Crematorium on Friday 19th December 2025 at 12:30pm. Family flowers only please. Donations if so desired for the Alzheimer's Society, all donations may be received at the Crematorium. After the service all are welcome back to the Shack, Bolden to celebrate the life of Maureen.

John Charles Freer

We are saddened to share that John left us on Thursday 27th November 2025, aged 80 years.

A much-loved husband of the late Lynda, truly treasured Dad of John and Lynn, father-in-law
to Jackie and David and a dearly loved Granda of Megan, Marcus and Daniel.

Please join us for the funeral on Wednesday 17th December 2025 at South Shields Crematorium at 2.45pm.
Flowers if you wish or donations if so desired to Dementia UK and Garden Hill Nursing Home which will be received at the Crematorium.

Family and friends welcome to join us all afterwards at the Whiteleas Club (of course!) for a celebration of his life.
John leaves a huge gap in our lives and will be fondly remembered by the many folk he encountered along the way.

Elizabeth Lackenby (Betty) Nee Woodrow

Passed away on Friday 21st November 2025 in Sunderland Royal Infirmary, aged 86 years. Loving wife of the late Bobby, beloved mother of Elizabeth, mother in law to Derek. Adored Nana of Catherine and her husband Alan, and to Philip and his wife Nichola. Much loved great Nana to Imogen and Abigail. Cherished sister of Alec, Colin, and the late Frankie, sister in law of Sandra and Annette.

Funeral service to be held at South Shields Crematorium at 12:30pm on Wednesday 17th December 2025. Family flowers only please. Donations if so desired to Chloe & Liam Together Forever Trust, all donations may be received at the service. Thank you to everyone for your love and support during this difficult time.

George Poulter

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of George Poulter, who sadly left us on Sunday 23rd November aged 76 years old.

A very much loved dad to Rachel, Scott and Lee
Father in law to Kav and Deborah. A much loved Granda to Keira, Sophia, Indie, Maela and Tahlia.

Please meet for the Funeral on Tuesday 16th December 2025 at South Shields Crematorium at 1:15pm.

Family flowers only please. Donations welcome if so desired to Hebburn Court Nursing Home, which will be received at the Crematorium.

Friends and Family warmly invited to join us afterwards to celebrate George’s life at the Little Haven Hotel.

Marion Linda Hurren (nee Ellison)

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Linda on Monday, 24th November, aged 79, after a brief but incredibly brave battle with cancer.

Beloved wife of the late Tony. A cherished Auntie to Carl and the late Lee, adored Great-Auntie to Billy, and much-loved Auntie-in-law to Kirsty. Linda was also a wonderful friend to many.

Please join us for the funeral service on Monday, 15th December at 1:15 pm at South Shields Crematorium.
Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, will be gratefully accepted at the Crematorium for Cancer Connections.
Following the service, all are welcome to gather at The Shack, Boldon Colliery, to celebrate Linda’s life.

Linda will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Raymond Burns (Ray)
South Shields

It is with extremely heavy hearts, the family of Raymond Burns announces his passing.

Ray passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday 23rd November 2025, aged 62 years, after a short yet incredibly courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of Angela, cherished dad of Leanne, Stacy and Nicole. A much loved step dad to Chris, Dan and Emma. A treasured grandad to Jack, Alex, Mason, harper, Alfie, Ellie, Danni, Corey, Emily, Isla and Hudson.
A dear brother to Val and a valued friend whose presence brought comfort, laughter and loyalty to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A funeral service for ray will be held on Tuesday 16th December 2025 at 10.30am at South Shields Crematorium.

Family flowers only please. Donations if so desired for the Sir Bobby Robson foundation, all donations may be received at the Crematorium.

Friends and family are warmly invited to join us afterwards at The Dolly Peel, South Shields to celebrate Ray’s life.

Lawrence Suddenly passed away on Saturday 22nd of November 2025, aged 85 years.

Loving husband to Esther. Loving dad to Lynne and Julie. And son in law Rob. Granda to Lauren, Daniel and Christopher and partners Peter and Austeja. Much loved gan gan to Amelia and Elena.

ELIZABETH (BETTY) STAMPS, NEE WEAKNER

Peacefully on the 6th November 2025, aged 91 years, Elizabeth (Betty), nee Weakner passed away in South Tyneside District Hospital. Devoted wife of the late Irvin. Beloved mother of Irvin. Betty's kindness, love and legendary hospitality will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched. Karen Bond

With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of Karen Bond.

Karen passed away at home on Sunday 16th November 2025, aged 53 years after a short, very courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved partner to Davey. Devoted mother to Amy and Callum. An incredible Nanna to Carson. Wonderful daughter of Shiela and the late Billy. Loving sister to Gary and a dear aunty to Robert.

There are no words that describe the hurt we all feel right now. You will be treasured eternally.

A loyal and doting friend to so many that will be missed beyond measure by all that knew and loved you.

Laws Maureen (nee Baker)

It is with a broken heart we announce that Maureen passed away peacefully on Sunday 9th November 2025, aged 90 years.

Loving wife of the late Walter, devoted partner of the late Ronnie, dearly loved mam of Maureen, Jimmy and the late Geoff, loved mam in law of Bob and Karen, adored nan of Lee, Jamie, Adam, Emily, Callum, Eilish, Helen and Jordan, precious little nana of Isabelle, Annabelle, Jacob, Madeleine, Jack, Ayla and Kaiden.

Please meet for funeral service on Thursday 4th December 2025 at 2pm at South Shields Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations if so desired for the Garden Hill Care Home comfort fund where Maureen spent 15 very happy months, all donations may be received at the Crematorium.

You've left us all broken hearted but you have taken a piece of all our hearts with you and we have lots of wonderful memories to cherish. The best mam, nan and little nana in the world.
