Yesterday, our Workplace Wellbeing Training Team delivered a free taster session on menopause and mental health. By creating space to talk about menopause, the team aims to open up an important conversation about something that affects so many people in our communities and workplaces. 💙

The session explored how menopause can influence our wellbeing and offered practical ways to feel supported. This includes celebrating personal strengths, connecting with others who understand the experience, and challenging unhelpful assumptions about menopause.

The people who joined told us they found the taster session useful and empowering, with one person sharing that it helped them start more open conversations about menopause, and another saying they loved the message about celebrating this stage of life.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. By talking openly and compassionately about menopause, we can create environments where people feel understood, respected and supported. ✊

Running for Uncle John. 💙🏃‍♀️

This year, Casey and her family will be back on the start line of the ABP Southampton Marathon, running together for something bigger than medals.

After losing her Uncle John on New Year’s Day 2025, marathon day has become a way to honour the man who “loved to run, and was very sporty and active”.

Casey explains: “We like to do this as a family so we can use the day to remember him and keep his name spoken about.”

Casey and her family are running for Solent Mind because no one should ever feel like they have no one to talk to.

“This as a family has affected us all so much and we never want someone to experience what we have. By contributing to Solent Mind, we hope we will make a difference to so many people.”

Join Casey and be part of something powerful at the ABP Southampton Marathon 2026, and help us make sure support is always there for those who need it most.

Sign up to run for Solent Mind today at solentmind.org.uk/run-abp-26.

To mark (Saturday 8 March), we’re shining a spotlight on one of our incredible female volunteers.

This year’s theme is , and Katie is giving her time to support mental health in Hampshire.

Volunteering not only gave her the confidence to get back into work but also the chance to support others.

Our Remind team was pleased to welcome the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Portsmouth to one of our dementia support groups this month.

They joined in with activities including a music quiz and 'sweet pong', both designed to support memory, confidence and fine motor skills while offering a sense of connection and enjoyment.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Gerald Vernon-Jackson, said: “Remind is offering an incredible service here in Portsmouth, and I’m delighted we had the chance to visit one of its groups today. It was a pleasure to meet everyone, and we both had great fun joining in with the activities!”

A huge thank you to the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Portsmouth for coming along and getting involved - everyone had a wonderful time!

Training for a major event can be really rewarding, but can also bring moments that feel more challenging. As we support our fundraisers who are taking on the ABP Southampton Marathon Festival and the Great South Run for Solent Mind, we want to share some tips to help you look after your mental wellbeing just as much as your physical fitness. 💙

1. Creating a simple mantra can help you feel more focused. 💬
2. Reflecting kindly on tougher training days can build resilience. 🏃‍➡️
3. Concentrating on what you can control can ease some of the pressure as the event gets closer. 👟

Thank you to everyone running in support of us this year. Every step helps Solent Mind be there for people across Hampshire when they need us most.

If you would like to explore our running challenges, you can find a selection on our website.

Our Story

Starting in May 1964, we became part of a network of 124 local Minds in England and Wales which are independent charities. We have our own board of trustees, raise our own funds and tailor our support to the needs of people living in Hampshire.

Our approach ensures that people can trust Solent Mind to be on their side:

Open. We reach out to anyone who needs us.

Together. We’re stronger in partnership.
