Restart a Heart Day ❀️
This is about raising awareness about cardiac arrests and the main lifesaving interventions.
A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops, different to a heart attack, and it is vital to get the heart started again. It is estimated that 40,000 in the UK suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital.
When someone goes into cardiac arrest, it is important to call 999 and start CPR. 999 operators can instruct where the nearest defibrillator is and how to access this. The defibrillators then talk through how to use the defibrillator.

International Day of Older Persons πŸ’š

Every day we witness how meaningful connections matter, whether it's a conversation over tea, helping someone maintain their daily routines, or simply being a trusted presence in people's homes. Our mission is to enable people to live with dignity, independence and connection.
Here are a few thoughts we want to share:
β€’ Social connection is not a luxury, it's a necessity. As people age, life changes can make maintaining relationships harder. That's why we prioritise companionship, not just "care tasks," in how we deliver home support.
β€’ Older people are active contributors.
They volunteer, mentor, care for family, share wisdom, and strengthen communities, yet far too often their value is undervalued or overlooked.
β€’ We all have a role to play. Whether as neighbours, professionals, family, or friends, we can actively combat social isolation, challenge ageism, and help everyone feel they belong - regardless of age.

World Sepsis Day
Sepsis awareness has been on the rise the last few years with many posters, campaigns and awareness (including being displayed on many ambulances).
It is a life threatening response to an infection that requires emergency hospital treatment.
Here at GoodOaks, we are able to help recognise clinical signs of sepsis using equipment to check heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature and respiratory rate. Our skilled care team are able to identify concerns and escalate for relevant treatment. This has been tried and tested by ourselves and has helped identify signs and symptoms of sepsis sooner and getting treatment sooner, helping improve outcomes.
Please get in contact with our office team if this is something you or a loved one could benefit from!

Specialist Condition Led Care
One of the many services we are proud to offer is specialist condition led care. This is more specialised care for individuals diagnosed with conditions that impact on their day to day living, we provide care tailored and centred around the individual to help them and their loved ones to live as independently as possible. We support a wide variety of conditions including; bone and muscle conditions, brain and nervous system conditions, respiratory/ lung conditions, heart and blood vessel conditions, digestive system conditions, kidney and urinary conditions, blood and immune conditions, psychological and emotional conditions and many others.
We provide specialist carers who are trained in specific conditions and management. Carers are able to provide practical support including monitoring blood pressure or oxygen saturation etc, but they are also able to monitor and manage symptoms and changes. We also liaise closely with wider care professionals such as GPs and physiotherapists to ensure that care is personalised and tailored to suit the individuals health and social care needs and changes are communicated appropriately.
As well as providing practical support, staff are also able to provide emotional and psychological support for both clients and their loved ones.

What is a LUCAS device and when would we use it? The LUCAS is an automatic chest compression device used during cardiac arrest. It delivers consistent, high-quality CPR when every second counts. We carry this vital piece of equipment on both our aircraft and emergency response vehicles.

Last year, 15% of our emergencies were cardiac arrests β€” one of the most common incidents we attended. Thanks to your support, we're able to bring equipment like the LUCAS straight to our patients when they need it most. πŸ’š
