One of my favourite types of therapy is Compassion Focused Therapy. Its principles apply to all of us and this can be practiced anywhere at any time.
This clip from CFT4me explains a little about our 3 emotional regulation systems. Many things in our busy lives can cause these to become out of balance and we can find ourselves living in our drive ( “doing/achieving“) and threat systems most of the time . This can often feel overwhelming and exhausting!
Therapy focuses on recognising and understanding which system we are in at any moment. We can then start to rebalance these by developing the “green” soothing system , which can help us to feel less overwhelmed and happier.
