One of my favourite types of therapy is Compassion Focused Therapy. Its principles apply to all of us and this can be practiced anywhere at any time.

This clip from CFT4me explains a little about our 3 emotional regulation systems. Many things in our busy lives can cause these to become out of balance and we can find ourselves living in our drive ( “doing/achieving“) and threat systems most of the time . This can often feel overwhelming and exhausting!

Therapy focuses on recognising and understanding which system we are in at any moment. We can then start to rebalance these by developing the “green” soothing system , which can help us to feel less overwhelmed and happier.

About me and how I can help:

Hi, my name is Michelle. I'm a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with over 20 years experience in supporting clients with mental health difficulties. I specialise in working with people struggling with a variety of issues from stress and worry, OCD, phobias, depression, low self esteem, and other anxiety and trauma related problems.

I'm passionate about the idea of personal resilience, and often use aspects of Compassion Focused Therapy in my work, as this encourages us to recognise, embrace, build on, and foster our resilience. We sometimes can't change the difficult situations that life throws at us, but we can learn to thrive despite these.

I feel that everyone's problems and experiences are unique, so I am keen to create a treatment plan which is specific to you. This can help you to use your existing strengths to start to overcome your difficulties.

If you are struggling with any of these problems, or if something feels that it just keeps getting in the way for you of where you'd like to be in life, then please do get in contact, and we can discuss how therapy could help you.
