Having seen the enjoyment Georges Rockstar Music Therapy sessions bring to patients on other ward areas, it would be fantastic if new sponsors could be found, to help this special charity expand their visits here in Southampton, to include our PMU patients. Please contact George's Rockstars if you know any businesses that would like to help spread some happiness. Xx .

🎵 Yesterday George’s mum Amy met with the divisional lead of children’s nursing and the head of Southampton Hospitals Charity to explore how we can expand music therapy across all wards at Southampton Children’s Hospital, by far our biggest regional children’s hospital.

Right now, our music therapist Louise is providing 2.5 days a week across 5 of the 10 children’s wards including intensive care, oncology, neurology, and cardiac. The demand is huge: doctors, parents, and staff frequently stop her in the corridors asking if she can support children in departments we simply can’t reach yet as a small charity.

Our NHS colleagues from child psychology to the new learning disability nurse are very clear: they want music therapy available for every child and family in hospital, regardless of diagnosis or ward.

We’re now working closely with the hospital team to make this vision a reality. To do that, we need to grow. That’s why we’re launching a new initiative, inviting Southampton-based businesses to become headline sponsors of music therapy sessions at the hospital.

💡 It’s a simple but powerful way for local companies to give back- bringing comfort, joy, and emotional support to children and families facing serious illness, disability, or mental health crisis right here in their community. Drop us a message to find out more.

These three lovely lads, Finn, Reggie and Jude, came to visit today on behalf of their football club, Southampton Schools FC. ⚽️ The U12, U13 and U14 teams recently undertook a very Muddy 50 Obstacle Course challenge alongside their Manager Dan (and their parents) to raise money and generously buy items from our ward wishlist. They have donated an incredible amount of toys, arts and crafts, sensory, baby toys, toiletries, games, eye masks, tablet holders, water bottles ...the list goes on and on!!
What an absolute pleasure it was to meet them, and on behalf of the Ward Staff, Patients and families, may we say a HUGE HUGE thankyou to all of you who got very muddy doing this for us! 💝⚽️ Good Luck this Season SSFC!! ❤️

Gorgeous Oliver spent along time in hospital this summer between CNeuro and PMU wards, and bought joy, laughter and lots of happy chaios with his messy play sessions at his bedspace, even though he was medically going through alot. He popped back to see us yesterday and bought lots of goodies for both wards prize cupboards and restocked birthday gifts. We are so grateful to his wonderful Mum for this very generous donation! Have fun back at school Oliver .... you are AMAZING! 🥰💝

WOW, WOW, WOW!! For those who have spent time on our ward, you will know that technology is rather lacking! Having had another two TVs broken, we were down to 3 between 18 bedspaces! That is, until this extremely generous donation from the Anderson family (Leee, Charlotte and Libby). Not only can patients now log into their family netflix and tv apps, but can access normal channels too! We are blown away by your generosity and these three new tvs will definately help our long term patients stay! You are an amazing family! 🥰💝 Thankyou thankyou thankyou! Xx 💗

Sister Sam Roberts joined PMU in 2010 and has witnessed many changes during her time here. She has looked after so many patients and families, in her caring , compassionate and professional manner, and has taught, nutured, and guided countless new nurses coming into the profession, helping them to be the best they can be. Yesterday with heavy hearts we bid her farewell to look after her family and head home to the North. Queen Sister Sam ... you leave a legacy that will be impossible to fill, and we all thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for being an incredible colleague and our friend. 💝
