A massive thank you to everyone who joined this week’s classes. Thank you for taking part in paired asanas. I last taught a similar class prior to Covid. It’s a step out of the comfort zone for sure. So well done!The experience of yoga as “union” when you practice close to another person takes on a new dimension. There were lots of smiles and giggles. I cannot wait to share some pictures with you soon.

🍁🍂Good afternoon Autumn! 🍂🍁I am finally ready for you! I can’t remember resisting the change of seasons quite so much as this year. Totally spoiled by beautiful walk in the New Forest and so many mushrooms to spot with the youngest. Lots of good fun and a tradition that anchors you back millennia. Absolutely brilliant!

Another great session hosted by Southampton Yoga Southampton Yoga Association (SYA). Grounded mind open heart. ❤️ was the theme. Accessible, supported through more challenging asanas. Really enjoyed the traditional warm up which I had only ever practised teaching after reading an old book. Totally chilled out after mini nidra. Many thanks Nurturing Shala

It’s easy to find peace miles away from people or any source of stress.

How about finding peace amidst the usual commotion, same workplace, same problems, same health issues same stressors ….etc?

Whilst we can try to actively influence and improve our surroundings and external factors it can be draining as we have little control over them at times.

Yoga gives you enough perspective, mental clarity and break to do just that.

Time and again I come back to yoga and am always amazed at its wonders. It gets me through life with just a little bit more peace and joy to make it worth practising regularly.

Do something great for yourself and come to yoga!
I have never met a person who has tried it and said it was rubbish! Have you?

How I came to Yoga

Hello,

A little about me then.

I started yoga after a c-section as an attempt to strengthen my core and my spine. I was in a car crash in 2001 that resulted a serious lumbar fracture among other injuries. So, Yoga seemed like a gentle option to rebuild strength. I didn't realise that Yoga would turn into my life's passion. I have now been practising Yoga for 10 years with respected and knowledgeable Southampton teachers. I have gained so much more than I expected from practising Yoga. I began my teacher training in March 2018 with Laura Green Teaching and Mentoring and successfully completed the 200h TT course in November.

I teach Yoga because I want to share with people the amazing healing powers of Yoga on the mind and the body. My classes are a mixture of Hatha and Vinyasa style Yoga with a particular emphasis on alignment and developing core strength. The mat is where we will play, take care of ourselves, let go and connect with ourselves and others. I am a great believer in the message that "Yoga is for everybody and every body" so finding suitable ways to make asanas accessible to all bodies is paramount. To help; poses will be modified or we might use props and/or hands on assists.
