With Spring here in all its glory, we're excited to see what delights will come out of the kitchen garden at Grove Place, in Hampshire.

Fresh vegetables and herbs are lovingly planted and tended to by the onsite gardeners and then used in the restaurant.

Residents recently celebrated Chinese New Year in style.

From fortune cookies to dragon decorations, the team, alongside the fabulous residents' association went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. As always, it was a collaborative approach, with residents and staff working harmoniously.

A bespoke menu was created with wonderful, traditional dishes for the occasion.

We wanted to a share message we received from a couple at Grove Place.

"As the Festive Season comes to its close and another New Year beckons, we reflect on what has again been an incredible year from the point of view of our extremely hard working staff at Grove Place.

It would not be appropriate to single out individuals for particular high praise, nor we suspect would they wish us to, for they all have contributed and each person is worthy of an accolade, from the front of office staff through our cleaners, restaurant staff, kitchen, carers and gardeners, all have combined to deliver an outstanding service cheerfully and with a smile, often working at personal and family cost to give residents the care, service and attention that is so essential in the twilight of our lives.

In a simple gesture of rather inadequate words we would just like to say to everyone - "Chapeau" - and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and continue to do to make our lives so comfortable and pleasantly worthwhile each day.

It is indeed a pleasure to live here."

With the festive season in full swing, and the new year just around the corner, now is a good time to assess goals and actions for the upcoming year. In many ways, the concept of ‘retirement’ acts in the same way. Retirement marks a profound shift in one's life, signalling the end of a career and the dawn of a new chapter.

We held our annual Christmas party last week. Residents and staff were treated to traditional mulled wine (bubbling over a fire!), hog roast, mince pies, laughter and conversation - oh and the turning on of the large Christmas tree outside the Manor House.

The festive season doesn't begin until the tree is lit!
